I want to give a shout out to the updated Calistoga Spa. We've been going there for decades, but not for the past 2-3 years because it just became really outdated. However, they have completed a really thoughtful renovation. They updated and upgraded the elements that needed it -- rooms, pools, pool grounds -- but kept what is unique about this hotel/spa -- three generously sized pools with gradually increasing water temperatures. They moved a few things around to create more deck space/chairs and added a cool outdoor fireplace with chairs surrounding it. The rooms have been nicely redone and the little kitchenettes remain. With the grills and tables/chairs just outside the ground floor rooms, it's easy to bbq and picnic. What they DID NOT do was try to turn the place into a spa cliche. Hooray for them! Calistoga has terrific food/drink establishments and St. Helena is a short drive down the Silverado Trail for even more choices.

Room Tip: The rooms in the older part of the hotel were completely renovated, while those in the newer (relati...

Spent several days here as we were attending a wedding at a local winery. The spa was amazing. Great masseuse hands, ask for Candy. The rooms were just redone and they are very nicely appointed with small kitchenette. All utensils are they for cooking, refrig. The giant jacuzzi and two other pools are really nice. The hotel, personnel are very accommodating.

Room Tip: Shoot for the west side rooms

We have come to Calistoga Spa Hot Springs for many years and always find the premises to be well kept and most inviting. The management has recently remodeled most of the units and re-landscaped the pool and grounds to great effect. My wife and I both avail ourselves of the wonderful spa facilities, I get the Mud Bath with steam room, mineral bath and blanket wrap while my wife gets all of the above and a one hour massage. We come out like wet noodles and spend the rest of the day wrapped in our bathrobes and read by the hot pool.

Room Tip: Rooms near the family units are less quiet

The perfect juxtaposition between the past and the present. The rooms are from the past. How many motels provide a kitchen for that perfect comfort meal you need after a day of expensive wine tasting and heavy traffic? For the present. the bed was from the present with the best linens and pillows. The pools were our favorite...so much to choose from..the hot jacuzzi, the less hot jaccuzi and the lap pool..who could find fault with that? We loved the firepit in the late evening and the conversations around the pool with other guests. It seemed like the perfect place to relax. I would definitely recommend it and stay here every time I visit Napa area.

Room Tip: Choose a lower floor if you can't carry your luggage up the stairs. We loved room 264...it was...

This motel is a good place to stay if you want to soak in hot tubs and swim. The pool is 25 yards with a depth from about 3.5 to 4.5 feet (although I believe it claims a depth of 5 feet.) It seemed to be kept at a temperature at about 80 degrees. There is one large tub which goes to a depth of about 5 feet, and is larger enough for some modest stretching if it isn't too crowded which is kept at about 100 degrees. Then there is a very hot soaking tub that can about 20-25 people, and a small, warm kiddie pool. The rooms are simple and clean, though a bit minimalist on towels considering the time guests are likely to spend in the water. They have kitchenettes with a reasonable amount of equipment. The room with one queen bet is an ok size for a couple, but if you are travelling with children be aware that the rollaway bed just barely fits into the space. Also, the rollaway was one of the less comfortable types, or maybe it was just too old. The hotel is just a block or so from the main part of Calistoga which has restaurants and an amazingly diverse grocery story ($35/lb cheeses and expensive wine, down to basic canned foods). Overall, Calistoga spa is a good value if you are there for the hot tubs/pool.

Room Tip: Avoid the rollaway beds -- get a larger room if they are available.

Hello WanderersWife, Thank you sharing your thoughts on our property here on TripAdvisor. You are correct that our single queen bedded rooms are just right for couples but if you have kids joining you we suggest the two queen bedded rooms. We suggest you book the two queen rooms early as they sell out first. Cheers, Mike Lennon

Have been coming here for over night stays or day use of the pools since 1986. The Calistoga Spa Hot Springs is a comfortable, quiet, low key resort where we always have a relaxing and enjoyable time. When I can I book during the slow season mid week to take advantage of the lower rates. You need to book a treatment to get the 20% discount midweek. Their selection of different temperature pools have always been a big draw for me. They recently remodeled and they cleaned up the pools from the mineral stains and they look great. The seating and picnic areas are lovely. Please don't change too much as part of why you are great is because of how low key you are and the clientele you attract. Lucy checked us in and she was very gracious and helpful at the front desk. Jill was my masseuse and she was a skilled therapist and warmly professional. They did a nice job on the room remodels. Our queen, 126 was small but very well laid out and had all we needed for a one night stay. I had one issue, couldn't work the new key very well. It took me several minutes each time to get the door open. Don't know what I was doing wrong. My husband didn't have a problem. I tried changing keys with him and still had an issue so must have been how I was holding it.

The hotel is in a very convenient location to the small and charming main street of downtown Calistoga. Perfect to walk to dinner or to go shopping. There is a good quality grocery store nearby to stock up on lunch stuff and wine.

Room Tip: I requested ground floor because of a recent leg injury and they were very accomodating. Put me in a...

This review is for the spa. The massages were nice, nothing special. The outdoor pools/spa's were great. What really hurts the experience is the locker room situation. There is a nice, roomy, carpeted locker room that is apparently only for hotel guests. It was empty the entire time we were there. There is another "locker room" that is more like a glorified public restroom with small lockers in a cramped space and no amenities. There were at least 10 people crammed into this small space at all times, making it a very unpleasant experience.
