I've stayed at the Calipatria Inn several times now because it's convenient and central to the south end of the Salton Sea. The Salton Sea is a bizarre , almost enchanted place, especially in winter when tens of thousands of ducks, geese, shorebirds, and others come to escape the cold of northern climates. The Calipatria Inn has never failed to offer a decent room, good service, a decent breakfast, and at a somewhat reasonable price. Sometimes I feel that for what it is it should be cheaper, but you're in Calipatria, it's not like you have choices. I imagine that a lot of hunters use the inn, as well as friends and family of inmates at the local state penitentiary, so if you need to stay here in winter, call ahead. Otherwise, enjoy your stay and remember to kept the door closed in summer time to keep the flies and crickets out of the room. That's the only way to have a bug-free existence in the middle of agricultural lands when it's that hot out. If you leave your room door open, don't blame anyone else for the flies.
