Went for a holiday dinner party. The service was good. Amy was very helpful. The waitstaff was attentative for the most part. A little slow at times but I'm chalking it up because they had a couple of holiday parties happening at the same time plus regular diners (yeah I knon, aren't they supposed to be used to that?!?).  The decor was decent with lots of seating indoor and outdoor. The venue is actually very large. I'm sure it's wonderful in the summer.  There's a full bar and a band that plays live music in the beginning of the evening then later, a DJ that plays music and people dance on the small dance area. The food was good. You get large portions, great bang for your buck. They have a large parking lot. However, what they do is leave a small section of the front of the parking lot for free parking once that is filled up you pay $3.50 for valet parking. Before you give your car the valet does a quick perusal of your car for "damages". When you go to pick up your car they're very quick in retrieving your car. It's a great place for happy hours but be prepared to pay about $11 for a mixed drink.

I grew up in Calabasas Park and I'm a whole lot older than I'd like to admit. So, I can remember the earliest days of the "Cantina" when a local Mexican family served their fare from the small "hole-in-the-wall" which was the Cantina back in its earliest days.

Today, the Sagebrush Cantina has grown to dominate the entire side of the street in Old Town Calabasas which it occupies. There you'll find an extremely lively place serving good Mexican food at a fair price. But people don't really go to the Cantina for the food anymore as you can find that type and quality on just about any corner in Southern California. People go to the Sagebrush Cantina for the atmosphere and people watching. Sunday is bike day as bikers from as far as away as you can imagine will descend on the "Cantina" like locust to a corn field.

Enjoy the live music. Drink, dance, people watch and have a little Mexican food to wash it all down.

I give the experience my "must do at least once in life" rating.

Such a great place to eat. Have been coming here since the 70s when it as just a small hole in the wall. Now it is large, but still hasnt lost it's reputation of a great Mexican restaurant
