The Anza Hotel was wonderful. Brand new and really nice. The staff was great and very professional. Front staff was very helpful. The rooms were nice and roomy. The location was convenient for the area.

Hi ladybug7_jt,

I'm thrilled that you had a great time at the Anza. Our front desk staff works very hard to satisfy our guests so they will be happy to know you left some kind words about them. We also make an effort to foster relationships with our guests, so it's like we are family already. I do hope you'll come and see us again.

The newly remodeled rooms are nice. The beds were comfy and the bathroom was very nice. The location was great. If you are able to get a good deal, the rooms are worth it. The only real complaint I have is the carpet. Please... If you remodel a hotel pay the money to put in new carpet. Overall it was a typical hotel experience.

I had a horrible experience here at the hotel. We had booked the room here since we were attending the wine event. We had purchases VIP tickets (which were not cheap). We arrived at the hotel around 5 pm and our room was not ready. CHeck in time is at 3 pm. We missed out on our extra we purchased for the event because we were not able to check in and the workers during that shift did a very bad job handling the situation. However, the next morning we did deal with Antonio who did try to make the situation better. I would definitely NOT recommend anyone to stay at this hotel.

We arrived at 7:10p.m. And our room was not ready. No apologies. The water on the front table had no ice and contained old lemons that looked like a lake of bacteria. The women's restroom in the lobby had no soap and had trash all over the floor. The place was not busy. Five minutes of attention from the slacker staff could easily have remedied these issues. As our room was not ready, we went to dinner and upon our return learned we would not receive two queen beds as we had reserved. No apologies. A sleeper sofa was finally made by two guys who looked like thugs and who didn't know how to make a bed. They were, however, very nice--the only nice people we met at the hotel. The sleeper sofa mattress was made up with the plastic still on the mattress. An uncovered comforter was put on the sleeper sofa and we were given one pillow. No mattress cover was put on. The bathroom had no mat or rug. The carpet had nasty, black stains all over it. The sheets on our king bed were inside out and not pulled down over the mattress. Another reviewer aptly states that this is another effort to put lipstick on a pig. From the front desk to the Motel 6 quality towels, this place is UNACCEPTABLE. I could instantly tell this was a low rent chain motel with a fresh coat of paint. The owner needs to take emergency action or give up and rent this place out by the hour.

Room Tip: Pick another hotel!

Hello 11Janet67,

We are very sad to hear that you did not enjoy your stay at the Anza Hotel. The day that you stayed with us, there was a huge wine festival in Calabasas. Many of the attendees were checking in that day as well. We had a large number of guests arrive very early in the day which caused our housekeeping department to get backlogged on rooms. I can assure you that it is a very rare occasion that something like that happens. I have taken your feedback regarding your room and our houskeeping and maintenance teams have already taken the necessary steps to reslove those issues.

I hope to welcome you back to the Anza in the future. We have already come a long way just in the short time since you've been with us!

Sincerely,

Kris Campbell

Previous reviews suggested that despite a renovation, the hotel was not "together."
They are probably half right. It is newly opened and the desk staff is somewhat lost. The support staff however looks like it is working hard to repair all the construction screw ups. The place is attractive and clean. The beds are good, but there are the aforementioned cheap outs: one mini soap, cheap towels ( one had a Marriott tag on it?)
I would however stay there again; the place has potential.

Wow what a change from the Country Inn & Suites! Love the new beautiful lobby so stylish and inviting. So what I love about the rooms--the decor is really nice and comfortable, beautiful bathroom with glassed in rainfall shower. Great job on the night stands with a ton of plugs built in so you can charge all your stuff! The only thing I didn't like was the towels but I still gave an excellent rating since one of the girls told me they were temporary since their new towels were on back order. The place has only been open a few weeks and wasn't that busy when I was there but once everyone finds this place it's going to be a favorite in Calabasas.

BigTraverler47!

What can we say other than "Thanks a bunch" from the bottoms of our hearts for your awesome review. We're very proud to present the Anza Hotel after a beautiful $6 million renovation. I am glad to hear that you enjoyed the decor, rain shower and night stands. Next time you're with us, take a dip in our newly re-done pool featuring relaxing cabanas and break a sweat at our brand new fitness center.

Until next time!

This place is awful. The hotel is a former name-brand place that may have been renovated but it reminds me of the old adage that you can put lipstick on a pig but at the end of the day.... its still a pig! The room was not serviced during a recent stay and they quoted a price on the phone and then informed us upon check-in (10 minutes later) the discounted price was no longer valid. The airconditioner sounds like a small turbo-prop engine and there is no way to silence it without have ing the room temp climb into the uncomfortable range. Management needs to get a grip and fix this place before you go bankrupt. I advise everyone to book away (from the Anza)
