“Going 5 Stars on This One”
Reviewed July 23, 2013

I stayed at the Good Nite Inn - Calabasas almost exactly one year ago and was impressed. As a result, I stayed again, and was even more impressed; impressed enough to bump it up to five stars.
Keep in mind that for $61 a night in the extremely pricey San Fernando Valley, excellence is relative. But here is what you need to know:
-The room was immaculate
-The bed was clean and comfortable.
-Bathroom worked fine.
-A/C worked fine.
-Staff was friendly.

What else does one need? Did I mention that I paid $61 on Hotwire for this room? Yes, the room is small and the decor is dated, but...if that stuff matters to you, spend more and go elsewhere.

You are simply not going to do better at this price point in the Valley. Keep up the great work! See you next time!

I read mixed reviews about this hotel so was a little wary when I arrived, especially when checking in at a similar time as a slightly strange, scary looking guy -- it would be helpful if the staff was more discreet about what room each person is staying (e.g., writing down the room number and not saying it out loud).

Most of the other people staying at the property seemed very friendly and with family, though I ran into slightly strange characters a few times.

I stayed in an upstairs room facing the inner courtyard, in the same building as the office (building parallel to Agoura Rd). The room was actually quite comfortable, and it was very clear that the cleaning lady had taken good care of the room. The mini-fridge in the room was a pleasant and very welcome surprise. Towels, soap, shampoo, and a couple of plastic cups provided. Coffee/tea in lobby in the morning. Everything was in decent working order, and there were many (satellite?) TV channels.

The only minuses were small pieces of hair in the comforter, a bath towel with very rough texture, and lack of free wifi.

The location is perfect. The hotel staff is superb. Fast and friendly check-in. Extra effort to accommodate business travelers. Service with a smile. The rooms are clean, comfortable and an excellent value compared to other motels in the area. I would highly recommend Good Nite Inn Calabasas.

The Good Nite Inn is at a great location next to the 101 freeway and the Virgenes/Malibu Canyon Road. For those visiting Pepperdine University in Malibu it is only about 9 to 10 miles away. I thought the hotel was very nice an clean. One of the only problems is that the smoking/non-smoking rooms seem to be mixed so that a non-smoker as myself can inadvertently come in contact with cigarette smoke (not good). Also I was with a friend and the only available room with 2 beds was a smoking room. I would hope that the inn would consider converting more 1 bed rooms to 2 bed rooms and go totally non smoking for the sake of everyone's health. The common area in the interior was very pleasant with a nice lawn area and lounge chairs.

Room Tip: Book early if you want a non smoking 2 bed room

This hotel is the best bang for your buck in the stretch between Sherman Oaks and Thousand Oaks. The hotel is located in a nice area of Calabasas. There's a grocery/drug store and food options nearby. The hotel is basic but provides everything you would need for a night or two. I don't know if all the rooms are this way but mine was clean and the walls appeared to be recently painted. Bathroom was clean as well. TV was newer flat panel style but not a very big screen. One odd aspect of the hotel is the oddly narrow walkways outside the rooms on the 2nd story. 2 people with roller suitcases would not be able to pass each other. Also, the walkways change levels at various spots forcing you to lift your suit case up and down the stairs. I would have taken the elevator but I couldn't find it. I'm not sure there is one. I recommend getting a 1st floor room for this reason. I arrived late at night and had to check in through the security window. The two gentleman behind the glass were very friendly making small talk and making sure I knew the best way to get to my room, etc... So overall, if you just need a clean basic room in a safe area, this hotel is the best deal around. With the cost of everything going up up up, its nice to find good values like this.

Room Tip: Try to get a ground level room since its much easier to get in and out with a roller suitcase. Some...

Although the price was good, our experience at this hotel was not good. We drove three hours, with two kids excited to go swimming the minute we got checked in. After walking into a room that smelled like cat urine and finding the pool closed, we quickly decided to go to another hotel. We explained to the front desk our issues and was told there was no way around a room charge for that night (even though we were in the room less than 5 minutes). Not worth it!

Sorry we were unable to accommodate your recent stay. Pool is scheduled to open around mid June for modifications, pool closure notices on websites will be removed at that time. You should also have seen the credit to your account and that there was no charge. We hope you can come back this summer when our pool is open to enjoy our beautiful courtyard.
