“A modern classic”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 4, 2013 via mobile

Only a handful of years old, but looks like it has been there for centuries. Mac Dunes is a credit to the course designers as they just followed the lay of the land. Only tees and greens are mowed, sheep do the rest. With the Atlantic crashing onto the beach, it's not for the faint hearted but it is a must for any true lover of golf. Special mention for Peter the starter who made us feel that we owned the place and that we were playing on our own private course.
What a way to spend your 40th!!

“First Visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 17, 2012

We stayed in the Ugadale Hotel in a wonderful second floor room with enormous space. Well appointed and very comfortable. There is a choice of venues for eating two on site and one at the sister hotel The Royal in Campbelltown. Staff are friendly and able and welcoming. Food was hearty for golfers and of good quality. A lot of investment has been put in here and the owners are to be commended. Kintyre is beautiful and the roads are quiet. Rates are good especially if you golf. Come and give it your support.

“Well worth the journey........and some.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 16, 2012

I played the dunes course with eleven friends at the end of May 2012..........

We travel all over Scotland & (north) England most weekends and have played between 30 - 40 courses in the last year and a half, after each visit we all individually vote on said courses (1 - 10) with the total accumulated out of 120..............

Some example scores:- Gleneagles (93), Prestwick Old (89), Silloth on Solway (82)..............

Machrihanish Dunes scored (96) it is a FANTASTIC course .................

“golf on the mull”

What a shame this course is in a fantastic location and is a great layout but its in terrible condition The tees and greens are some of the worst i have ever played on . The small temp club house is just about adequate with very limited changing and catering facilites On the plus side the staff and starter are very good. I must stress that this course need money sent on it very urgently
