Spent a wonderful weekend in Machrihanish staying in one of the Ugadale Cottages.
The cottages are finished to a high standard and ours had two large en-suite bedrooms and a large sofa bed in the living room. The bedrooms have their own flatscreen TVs, built-in wardrobes, hairdryers etc.
The living room and kitchen/dining area is open plan with a table and four chairs. The kitchen has a fridge, hob and oven but no washing machine, dishwasher or microwave. Not an issue if staying for a weekend but a washing machine would be handy of you were staying longer and had a load of dirty golf gear!
There is free wi-fi around the site.
The restaurant pub is nicely fitted although a little on the small side. Unfortunately they restaurant was fully booked on the Saturday night so we couldn't get a table. We had to east our food in our cottage which was delivered to us. This was a pity and also a slight inconvenience because as mentioned earlier, there are only four chairs to go with the dining table.
At no time we asked or advised to book a table for dinner so unless you are not going to eat there I would advise that you do so.
We did get in for breakfast though and both continental and full Scottish are available. We went for the continental which was excellent and had a wide choice of cereals, breads, fruit, yoghurt, meats and cheese, fruit juice. Coffee was made to order which is a nice option.
The staff are all very friendly and welcoming and couldn't do enough for you. Nice to see everyone with a smile on their faces.
The Machrihanish Dunes golf course is a wonderful course to play. Traditional links golf at its best! The course is well maintained and the greens were in good shape for late February especially after the winter we have had. There is a lot of walking between holes but you can take in the fabulous scenery whilst doing so. Not for the unfit though!
A shuttle bus takes you from the Village to the links which is about a 10 minute drive away. Hand held carts are available for use and you are given a welcome pack with a stroke saver/scorecard, tees, pitch mark fork and bag tag. A nice touch.
A bit of a drive to get there but thoroughly recommended.
