Fabulous venue, service and staff. They could not have done more to make us all feel welcome and special. Highly recommended! The wedding itself went perfectly with a wonderful meal in a beautiful setting. Breakfasts were included in the rate and were very substantial and high quality.

Room Tip: The cottages were fantastic!

Stayed here for one night on a golfing break. We happened to get a deal, but even at full price, there would be no complaints.
Excellent staff who looked after us, booking in and out was simple and straightforward. We had dinner in the 'Old Clubhouse' next door and had an excellent meal that was great value for money. Breakfast was varied and plentiful, nothing a problem for the staff.
This would be a great place to stay for a short break, golf or not!

Room Tip: Don't think it really matters but a sea view should be your preference.

It's been a while since I wrote the last reviews of this place and I have stayed here a few times since. Certainly there is a wholesome, more relaxing feel about the place now that it has a few scratches and the cut throat music has gone. Generally the staff are lovely - and it isn't just me folks - but they can forget quite a bit too; taking breakfast orders, no teaspoons, no milk, no salt, no sugar, no cup and saucer and twice no parmesan on the caesar salad. Menu doesn't change - and neither do the excuses for crab enchilladas really being chicken ones - but there are some specials and theme nights.
Idiotic little things that do my head in - the breakfast tray in the room slides into and out of the wardrobe - at a no too comfortable height. Try and find a flat surface in most rooms for the tray and preferably near ( 12 inch flex ) a 3 pin square socket to plug in the integral kettle. Cushion city - why do hotels have these extra dust traps and do they clean them? Do other guests chuck them on the floor or clean the top of the wardrobes with them?
And finally - although the hotel is equipped with a bar and a good sized restaurant, it does not use this facility for at least 3 nights of the week. Come in from a hard day on the golf course with the wind up your kilt and the Amazon flowing down your neck and ask for a beer or an OJ. Sorry - brave the storm to the Old Clubhouse across the gravel and stagger back with your pint sir - we'll watch.
But Hey - this is the West Coast and if this place was pretending to be something it is not it would have failed. It is very clean, incredibly comfortable, all the showers work ( now there's a short chapter for a long book on the subject of West Coast disasters I have been dribbled on by !! ) I take my hats off to them for trying and getting a heckofalot right - it is dead easy to criticise and looking back I feel I was maybe a bit too hard at not giving them a chance.
There are some other ( well 2 within 25 miles ) local places I have tried and liked but because of the nature of work it is so convenient but equally warm and friendly.
OOPS - sorry it is raining cats and cows and I need drink so better start packing for the trek................

Room Tip: Front rooms are bigger - a bit more noise from the gravel but also good views.

We have stayed at the cottages and the new hotel and they are both luxury at its best. On our first visit to the 'pub' the food was fabulous and we did have other good visits when in the area. We visited in march this year and noticed a change in menu and really a decline in quality which was disappointing. My husband as since returned from a weekend in machrihanish and ate with two friends they were all very disappointed prawn cocktail with very little prawns, fish pie which was dreadful and other mains which no one enjoyed ( one member of the party unfortunately being a chef) I'm only writing this review because I have already mentioned this to the hotel after our last visit and unfortunately there has been no improvement, it's hugely disappointing and would make us think twice about returning as there are no other eating choices within walking distance.

Thank you for your review. We are pleased that you enjoyed your accommodation at The Ugadale Hotel and Cottages. We regret that you were disappointed with the menu change and food quality at The Old Clubhouse Pub. When we opened the Ugadale Hotel (which is next door to the Pub and houses The Kintyre Club restaurant and bar) in February, we changed the the Pub menu to a more limited, "pub style" menu, to complement the more elaborate offerings in The Kintyre Club. Regardless of the menu change, we still strive to maintain food high quality at the Old Clubhouse Pub (as we do at all of our venues) and apologize for any deficiencies you experienced during your recent visits. We have shared your comments with our culinary team and will use them to help us improve going forward. I should also note that the Pub is not the only dining option in the area available to our guests-- as mentioned above, The Kintyre Club is located in The Ugadale Hotel just a few feet away and we offer a shuttle service to guests who would like to enjoy the dining options at The Royal Hotel, our sister hotel in nearby Campbeltown. Thank you again for your review-- we hope to welcome you back in the future!

We were a group of 3 couples. Our husbands spent 2 days playing golf just across the street at The Machrihanish course. Although the three of us ladies did not golf we found ourselves very content to stay at the hotel and visit, eat at the Pub next door and enjoy the gorgeous scenery.
They had a shuttle that would have taken us into town during the day to shop and look around Campbeltown, but we loved just relaxing at the hotel. We did take the shuttle to town for a few meals and a tour of a distillery and that worked out great. Would definitely recommend staying at The Ugadale....we so much enjoyed visiting with David, Sandra and Nicki...they all took such good care of us during our visit .

We stayed at the Ugadale Hotel as a group booking during the windiest September I can remember - putting on the Old Course was impossible due to the balls moving in the wind.
The Ugadale is a welcome surprise to what I expected. The hotel rooms are spacious, tastefully decorated and a high level of quality fittings. Linked to this are friendly staff who make a real effort to ensure all your needs are met - the barman also had a thorough knowledge of the range of whiskies on offer.
We ate in the evenings both at the Ugadale and the sister Royal hotel in Campbeltown both of which were of a good standard and excellent service.
Although the weather was somewhat extreme, we managed to play at both the Dunes and the Old Course. The Dunes is still in the stages of development towards maturity with the greens being inconsistent. I would however fully recommend a round at Dunaverty (Southend) during your visit.
If you are wanting a couple of days golf on some testing links courses and a good base to stay then you won't do better than the Ugadale. We will be back

Stayed on a deal for DBB and a round of golf at the Machrihanish Dunes course. The refurbished Ugadale hotel is excellent. Room was spacious with quality furnishings, huge comfortable bed and large bath/shower room. The staff are simply superb. Can't compliment them enough - helpful and professional and good fun. Food very good. Would most definitely return.
The main attraction in the area is the golf (Dunes is a new course and not associated with the famous original Machrihanish Links). The Dunes course is tough but worth playing however is a very long walk!

Room Tip: Not all rooms have baths, so check beforehand.
