Description: We are no longer in Burlingame. Please join us at our new location at 201 E. 3rd Ave in San Mateo! Roti is about experiencing a feast - a celebration shared with family and friends in a warm modern setting. A place where authentic and modern Indian cuisine is prepared using high quality local and organic ingredients and served in a refined style. With an elegant ambiance, a meticulously paired wine list, special Indian cocktails, and high quality Indian cuisine, Roti Indian Bistro has been voted the Best Indian restaurant in San Mateo County and has earned four out of four stars. We are celebrating our 3rd anniversary this year. We also recently received the "As Fresh As It Gets" award from the State of California.

My wife and i had enjoyed several meals at Roti on our last trip to SFO in December 2007. So on our recent trip to SFO we were really lloking forward to visiting Roti again. However, the recent experience left us disappointed. We had ordered butter Naan and plain Roti but were served just the opposite i.e. butter roti and plain Naan..The Navratan Korma was way too bland. The exorbitantly priced Paneer Tikka left s even more disappointed. The paneer was very dry and easily the worst paneer tikka preparation we've tasted in an Indian restaurant. We were also not served rice with our entree. Not sure if that was again poor service or the the rice is just not included with entrees like every place elsewere. While we were impressed with the general ambience of the restaurant on our last trip, we left less impressed this time around. The restaurant does try to create an upscale feel with its open kitchen which is a good effort but an unsightly trash can peeking at diners from the 'Open' kitchen hardly qualifies as 'upscale'. The dining space does feel a little crowded especially at busy times during the evening. May not give the place a third visit,

Went here as it was reccomended by friends.
They were right! The Owner - Sunny, was a great host. Very friendly, all the staff were fantastic too!
The choices were varied and good value. One fact I found out the seccond visit - if you are used to Indian food, you are able to request the food spicie should you desire.

I woould retrurn to this great place again in a heartbeat!

All of dishes, especially the goat naan, do not disappoint. I find it offensive that other reviewers are offended that the Indian food is not "cheap" as it should be. That's ridiculous. This is upscale gourmet Indian food, not the street food that you get served at most "Indian" restuarants in the Bay Area (Gaylords and Amber are the other two exceptions). The owner, Sunny, always greets customers and makes them feel at home. The location is great, for walking around shopping or grabbing some ice cream down the street later.

The food is ok, but it's too bloody expensive for Indian. Indian food should be cheap, like Mexican!
