This was my second trip to Max's, the first being several years ago. On this trip, I was with several business associates (party of about 15). We had a table arranged in a corner of the restaurant, but that did not really shield us from the noise; I found conversation difficult with any but the closest of my table mates.
Before dinner I ordered The Ultimate Maxarita - save your money, as this drink is a waste of very decent tequila.
Our party ordered from the standard menu. I chose the chicken picatta. We had a variety of appetizers served family style. Appetizers were fairly standard renderings. To its credit, the calamari was indeed crisp and not fairly tender - not the chewy, rubber band stuff one often gets.
My entree was nothing out of the ordinary.
Overall, I would say that Max's is probably better food than you would get at the nearby hotels, and if you are staying in one of the hotels, Max's has the advantage of providing a good walk.
