We went on the tonight show and it was great!
Make sure to print your tickets in advance and call the number they send you to your email address a night befor the show.
On the confirmation mail they are writing to be at the studio 20 minutes befor the show, but... we went an hour and 30 minutes befor the show because they give you a number according to the order they let pepole in. It's importent to say that in the end they will sit you were ever they decide. but not all of the pepole who came 20 minutes befor the show got in. (we got great sits!!!)
It is very organized, there are place to sit down while waiting in the shadow, restrooms and a cold lemonade. everyone on the set is very nice and helpful :)

We got to the studio two hours before the show, and had to wait in a line outside for an hour and a half. Somehow, they managed to always find people to seat before the people actually in line and we ended up getting the last corner seat behind the spotlight guy. It was incredibly cold and we were right near the AC vents and were quite literally shivering. The staff members were rude and arrogant and treated is like they were doing us a huge favor just by letting us be there.

Jay was great, though. I recommend watching him on TV instead.

How right is the review from OP. Believe it or not we four had driven from Florida and the Leno show was high on our to do list. I had Internet tickets for months so we knew we should be there early. We arrived at 2 pm to find ourselves numbered in the 80's. I cannot imagine how I would have felt if I had not managed to get in.....we were lucky enough to get bench seats....by 2.30 the potties were not functioning well...Everything she mentions about the organization is correct...totally disorganized..would have loved to be in those who shook his hand but that was not to be...incidentally the front chairs were approx 80 per cent male and young..guess the more mature are not photogenic enough to be on camera. All in all if you only have a couple of days in LA don't waste it standing or sitting in the hot sun...find somewhere else to go. Oh, and from now on I will watch the show with a whole new mindset! Still love Jay. - don't love his chaos.

We booked tickets months in advance and turned up in good time but still waited in the sun for 2 hours and they ran out of water. The porta loos blocked up as well.
You're never sure your going to get in until the last minute and they are always picking were they're going to seat people - look beautiful or wacky and you'll be well served.
The studio was so cold after queing in the sun we thought we'd get hypothermia - take a sweater.
It was interesting to see how the show was recorded - lotsof stops and lots of faffing with hair. They probably took 90 minutes to record 30 so it was a bit tedious hearing the jazz band over and over again.
It is quite a trek from LA - $70 each way by cab.
Notthe highlight of our trip but I do look at TV chat shows kinda differently now so maybe worthwhile
