“Great Spot, Not Free to Park on Property Though”
Reviewed June 26, 2013

This hotel was amazing. The rooms are very clean, the amenities in room / hotel are fantastic. The area is pretty good. I would have given this hotel five out of five except, I didn't find the staff to be very helpful and somewhat robotic when checking us in. More importantly, the hotel is listed as "free parking" on Tripadvisor. If you consider "free parking" find your own spot on the street, this is true, I don't consider that free parking. If you want to park on the property, it's valet only and it's $35 / night.

Thank you for your review and we are happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay.

I have shared your comments with the Front Office Manager and it will be addressed with the staff. Due to the hotel being located in a residential neighborhood, along with limited parking, we have made an effort to keep our parking rates one of the lowest in the LA area.

Look forward to your next visit.

Sincerely,

Tom Whelan

Chose this hotel for a one night stay and trip to Universal...nestled in a nice area, very clean, upscale and comfortable. We enjoyed the pool which was nicely heated and a good meal in the restaurant. Would definitely stay here again if in the area!

First, the hotel is in a fairly convenient location, so that was a plus. The valet personnel were fast and friendly. The furnishings were nice and luxurious. The room was quite comfortable.

However, I was shocked that in the middle of taking a shower, I saw mold and mildew in each of the corners and growing in the grout lines in different areas of the shower. It wasn't so terrible that you would notice it immediately, but when I realized the shower wasn't being scrubbed, I didn't want to touch anything in the rest of the room/bathroom. I told the front desk when we left, and it was taken care of immediately. But I just couldn't shake that uncomfortable feeling for the rest of our stay that I was touching things that who knows when they were cleaned last? And when I'm paying for a luxury experience, that is NOT even close to the experience I expected.

We tried to order room service on our second night, and realized that the cord was missing from the phone. So we had to call the hotel from our cell phone to be connected to room service. They sent a guy up to fix it promptly, but again, shouldn't these things be noticed/checked/taken care of between guests? Luxury experience was lacking here.

Overall, the stay was ok, but I paid for more than ok.

This snugly tucked away luxury boutique hotel, steps from the major Studios, allows you to languish in uninterrupted classic style and elegance.

Understated ambiance includes a consistently slowly flickering fire and hundreds of well placed unscented candles throughout the lobby and lounge area. A fine upscale bar, that served the most delicious cup of coffee after dinner at infamous Morton's Steakhouse, in front of the fireplace completed the perfection of the day.

Our room was delightly clean, crisp, chic, and properly outfitted. Kuerig coffeemaker with gourmet coffee choices, a stocked mini-refrigerator, and other offerings provided a well selected choice of snacks and beverages.

Wonderfully luxuriant bed and bedding. Large walk in shower, toiletries, top quality, all.

The Manager, Mr. Tom Whalen, is the quintessential Hotelier/Host whose charm and dedication to your stay experience being of the highest quality makes this attractive package a true gift.

One my husband and I plan on giving each other many times again.

Lovely pool and cabana area, excellent on site restaurant, room service, exercise room -- hated to leave, it was so relaxing and rejuvenating!

All staff we encountered were properly dressed, quite pleasant and quick to offer assistance in any way they can.

Wish all of our hotel experiences gave us this kind of Star Treatment!

Room Tip: We stayed on the second floor of the new wing, which included a sunny terrace overlooking the pool.

My husband and I were recently in the Los Angeles area and stayed two nights at this very pretty boutique hotel. They upgraded us to a suite upon arrival and the room was lovely -spacious and well designed, comfortable with all the amenities you would expect from a four star hotel - comfortable bed, comfortable bedding and lush towels as well. Staff were helpful and pleasant.

The hotel is situated in a quiet pretty residential neighbourhood, however there is a little shopping mall across the street. in fact it was great to have a little diner directly across the street for breakfast (there is also a Starbucks there too).

Pretty pool in a lovely courtyard also which was nice in the hot weather.

Only drawback was that the air conditioner was quite noisy.

Loved the Amarano! The staff is polite and very accomodating. Even the valet did a wonderful job helping me because I got in early and couldn't check in. When I did, I had to get car numerous times from valet and they were always quick, friendly and so helpful. The room was amazing, and the bed was heaven! I travel to LA many times and from now on this will be the first hotel I check for reservations.

Extraordinarily clean, comfortable room during our three-day stay. In-room information says even the bed comforter was washed for each new guest, and I believe it. Fresh smell and a crisp appearance confirmed this. Individual temperature controls for the room worked very well. Difficulty with the in-room safe was adressed immediately and the problem was solved, even though it was after 10 p.m.! Free wi-fi was easy to access and fast. Valet parking is expensive but convenient and very efficiently administered---we never waited longer than two minutes for our car. The hotel is in a quiet area next to a residential neighborhood, but there are restaurants, a grocery, a bank and other amenities within walking (or short driving) distance. Staff went out of their way to be helpful. Wish we could stay in this hotel in every city we visit.

Room Tip: Fourth floor room faced the street, but traffic noise wasn't a problem.
