“Good Burbank breakfast”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 13, 2014

The Hampton Inn next door has a free breakfast but the dining room was overflowing with other guests so we hopped into the car. I fed a family of 5, 3 kids, for about $60 and everyone left full and happy. That's a pretty good deal in the LA area.

“Much better than you'd expect, a cut above the average LA diner”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 23, 2014

The Hill Street Cafe is a diner. But it's a nice diner. With some upscale options you wouldn't expect, such as handmade salsa, pico de gallo and chunky guacamole.

It's easy walking distance from the Hampton Inn Burbank, where I frequently stay while in town on business. The menu has traditional diner fare as well as some more eclectic options. Portions are generous and the food is consistently fresh and well-prepared. Service is friendly and fast. Prices are an excellent value. I've eaten here frequently and never had anything but a good meal. Sure, you won't find a Michelin star in the lobby, but it's definitely way better than you'd expect for a diner.

You can order a patty melt with fries, but there are plenty of fresh options. In fact, tonight when I asked to hold the beans and rice that came with my quesadilla, the waitress asked if I'd like a side of fruit instead. I said "Sure!" (pleasantly surprised) and what came was not the typical anemic and underripe melon chunks, but rather a nice mixture of fresh and ripe fruit.

Even the flowers in the bed out front are notable - every time I'm there, they're different, and beautiful. What would otherwise be a sad, barren little dirt patch next to a busy road is a lovely little oasis of color and greenery. Clearly, the owners of this establishment take great pains to make the place as nice as they can, and make customers feel welcome.

“Friendly neighborhood place”

This is a nice coffee shop with freshly prepared food and excellent service. It was convenient to our hotel and when I asked about it, I was told their specialty was "comfort food". I agree.
