Front Desk service was excellent. Wish breakfast was offered. Rooms were clean and modern. Parking was sufficient.

Well, we just got back from a five night, four day stay at this hotel, and as the title says, it was a real mixed bag. So, lets start with the good:

The hotel staff was very friendly- always a plus. Our front desk clerk was very nice and checked us in quickly. She gave us a nice room that was somewhat away from the pool, but as I'll describe later, not far enough. As others have said, the lobby is modern and trendy, and the ambiance is very relaxing. The room was very clean, and the maid service was excellent. The bistro was a little on the confusing side. It's like a cross between a sit-down restaurant and a fast-food joint. The menu was extremely limited, but the food served was actually quite good with the exception of the Chicken Ceasar Wrap which contained dry, flavorless chicken. Staff were friendly here too, but not always attending the counter at certain parts of the day. They make an excellent Bloody Mary too.

Location of the hotel is very good. It's quite close to Knotts Berry Farm and Soak City. 10-15 minute drive to Disneyland depending on traffic, and about a 30 minute drive to Huntington Beach.

The look of the hotel is quite nice with a beautiful courtyard and well-kept grounds. I just wish they paid as close attention to detail in the rooms.

The bad:

The rooms are indeed older. Wallpaper in our room was torn from the easy chair rubbing against it. Handles on furniture were loose. Furniture was dated with lots of dings, nicks, and scratches. Beds were typical hotel faire- old, overly-firm, and covered in a too-hot comforter that wouldn't be out of place in an arctic environment. It's Southern California for Pete's sake. How about a simple blanket so I don't have to run the A/C at refrigerator temperatures all night? Thank goodness the A/C did work well.

As for the room itself, it was on the courtyard side- big mistake. The hotel staff that work at night are either entirely oblivious, or entirely ambivelent about the amount of noise generated by even a couple of screaming kids in the swimming pool late at night. The sound is amplified by the enclosed courtyard! Shame on the parents for allowing their screaming brats to carry on like this so late, but shame on the hotel staff for allowing it to go on while guests are trying to sleep! While we're on the subject, why the bloody hell is the pool open until 11pm? I had to call the front desk two nights in a row to ask them to speak to the pool patrons. Saturday night- nothing happened, the screaming kids continued to 10:30pm. Sunday night I had to call the front desk because the kids were still at it at 11:30pm. I got a fair night's sleep on two of the five nights we were there. Stay away from the pool if you expect to sleep. However, the room doors were no sound insulators either. Might as well have had a door made of cardboard for all the sound it kept out. The hallways also act quite well as a sound amplifier.

Couldn't get Wi-Fi in the room. Nonexistent. Didn't have a hard wire either so I couldn't connect. The hotel computers were worthless. Some proprietary software they have made Internet browsing a PIA. The speeds were terrible. 30-45 seconds to load even the simplest web pages. I was hoping to print out our return boarding passes there, but the computers were so slow I gave up in frustration.

There were other very small things I noticed here and there, but what I've mentioned so far was all the big stuff.

Overall I was disappointed in the hotel. I have loved the other Courtyard Mariotts I've stayed in, and that was why we chose it again for our trip to Anaheim. However, if we go back, we definitely won't be staying here again. The bad simply outweighs the good.

I stayed here for 2 nights with my grandchildren. We enjoyed our experience 100%. The hotel was clean, the staff was friendly and the room was very comfortable. My grand daughter kept telling me sleeping on their bed was like sleeping on a cloud. I slept on the sofa bed and was surprised to see it was pretty comfortable. We used the pool a lot after activities outside of the hotel and that was a great experience too. It was in walking distance of Knotts and other Buena Park attractions. If you are traveling with kids try John's Incredible Pizza which is about a mile away. Your kids will love it!

This was a family trip so that standards are a bit different. Yes, it was clean, and only takes a reasonable number of Marriott points to stay at within driving range of Disney but there were definitely some things that annoyed me that indicated deeper problems at this place. The coffee maker in the room was missing when we arrived an not replaced. There are only 2 sets of laundry machines, and during our entire stay the 2nd washing machine was broken, it looked like it had been broken for awhile - at least the laundry detergent and dryer sheet are complimentary! The sofabed is useable. The TV allows AV input so we watched some Netflix from laptop. There are plenty of outlets, internet speed was excellent (4 mbits!) In the reservation we checked the box for rollaway but this location doesn't have any (good thing we brought a camp cot for the 2nd kid). FYI there is no Disney shuttle but the drive is <10 minutes (over to 91 and down the 5) and now the DIsney parking garage is unlimited in/out during the day. Cab fare/tip is $26 to/from Disney area. The cabbie warned that the area on the other side of Hwy 91 should be avoided, the cops do, but the Target seemed fine to me. I found in the GPS a grocery store a couples miles or so away and bought juice/yogurt/instant oatmeal/produce for breakfast and used the Hot Water at lobby coffee station to make the oatmeal. You can almost see Knotts Berry Farm. It took me a few hours on the Marriott website to settle on this place for using points, it was clean and affordable, I would pick again in the same circumstances but next time will also see what else is available.

Our family of four stayed here on the first night as part of a week's vacation and we were very happy that we'd chosen this hotel. Since we'd been up early to catch a flight (4:45 a.m.), we were pleased that our room was available early. It was quiet and peaceful - just what we needed for a couple hours. The room and the whole hotel were very clean and the staff were courteous, friendly and professional. We used the interactive info board in the lobby - what a cool tool! Our breakfast at the cafe the following morning was quite satisfactory, also. (Don't overlook the advantage of free parking, either!)
