“Great Ambience and Good Food. Fun Place!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 17, 2013

I love the ambience of A.J. Spurs. Perhaps its the friendly buffalo at the front door, lots of knick knacks to look at. This place is always busy. They have good food and drink. My husband and I got married in the Valley and the place was big enough to host the pre-wedding dinner of family and out of town guests (approx 30 people). That was a fun night!
Its my 9 year old daughter's favorite restaurant in Santa Ynez Valley. Just 5 minutes or so from Solvang in Buellton.

“Good Steak House”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 7, 2013

The restaurant is easily accessed from Highway 101. Plenty of parking. We had reservations for 5. Arrived a few minutes early and were promptly seated on a very busy Friday evening. The decor is that of a typical steak house. If you're looking for linens and china with silver keep driving, this is not the place. Service was excellent and the food was excellent. Unique beginnings of a mixture of soup and "mixin" items (standard with all orders). The food was well prepared and the surroundings were pleasant. Oh yes, don't leave without the dessert. It comes with the price of the meal.

“A great meal at a great price.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 15, 2013

We couldn;t get a set at the Hitching Post so walked over to AJs. Glad we did. I had the half rack of ribs (more than I could finish) and along with a bottle of wine split 3 ways it was less than $40 with tip. Including the desert.

“Lots of Food but Nothing Great”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 24, 2013

Went here on recommendation of our hotel. Service was great and the food was abundant. Unfortunately that is about it. The initial soup was different and pretty good. The rest of the food was nothing but average at best. We were told the steaks and ribs were excellent but they were not. The steaks were seared well but had little flavor. The spare ribs were tender but salty. They had appeared to have been soaked or boiled for tenderness and had no smoke flavor/rub on them; they tasted like cured ham with barbeque sauce on it.

If you want a lot of food, this is the place; if you want a quality meal, it is not.

“Gigantic Portions...Wild West Decor, OMG!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 15, 2013 via mobile

What a variety of experiences here...at first a rather unprofessional greeting and seating, then a server who clearly wasn't interested in our happiness...then a wonderful waitress who more than compensated for a bad beginning. Although not exactly Miss Hospitality, she understood her restaurant and what pleases her diners. A martini was served in an LED-lighted kitschy shaker...very amusement Park-like, but funny and large. The ribs were piled high and were succulent. My NY steak....the small cut...was 1 inch thick and done to perfection. I was served a baked potato so large it could have served 4, so we gladly toted home the leftovers, as did everyone else seated around us. We left with country-western music as our good bye...and we're happy we visited! $80 for 2 enormous dinner with drinks.
