I've stayed at this very budget motel a few times now. I'm from the Bay area and it's a perfect one night stop before heading to Northstar or Squaw the next day. I see that a lot of people on this site are very disappointed with the place- the only thing I can say is that its $39 people!!!! If you wanted better go stay at the Hampton Inn or Holiday Inn Express and pay $170. It's nothing fancy, yes the paint is peeling, and I too make sure not to touch the bedspread...but if you just need a place to crash before hitting the mountains the next day this place is ideal.
*Also walking distance to a few budget casinos.

This Place wasn't even worth the money. Stains all over, the beds were FILTHY I litterly didnt want to touch anything. we used beach towels that we brought for blankets and over the pillows. I have stayed in Plenty of economy hotels before this Takes the Prize. We Seriously thought the celing was going to come down from the guy walking above us. If you want a Murder Suite or want to film ahorror movie this place is for you. It was a total disaster!!! DO NOT STAY!!

Our plan was to find somewhere to sleep no frills that offered cheap clean accommodation and we found it! Luxury it ain't but we knew it wouldn't be. Okay as a base. Reception staff helpful when asked anything. Decor on corridors jaded .Rooms cleaned and fresh towels daily. No complaints!

Drove up to Tahoe from the Bay Area for a snowboarding trip. Needed a place to crash for the night before a long day of shredding. Found the Tahoe Inn at Orbitz.com for only $62/night including taxes/fees. The drive up took longer than expected due to weather so I called and the front desk was very helpful. Because I didn't get in until past midnight, we just picked up the keys at the Crystal Bay Club just down the street across from the Biltmore. The room had two queen beds, a tv with 11 channels including ESPN (a necessity), a table, a bathroom, and that was about it. It wasn't the most elegant looking place, but it wasn't terrible either. 4 people will fit in this room. Parking was a little bit hard to find because a lot of people came up for the snow that weekend. It's very close to Northstar and Squaw Valley. Basically, if you're not traveling with girls or anybody who is picky about amenities or ambiance/decor, and you're just looking for a cheap place to crash for the night so you can get on with the real fun (snowboarding/skiing), you can't find a better deal than the Tahoe Inn.

Staff: unhappy, unhelpful. Beds: tattered. Driveway: who needs a snowplow? Walls: paper thin. Carpets & Blankets: old, dirty, and sketchy

Between the terrible beds and the thin walls with a party next door, we got little sleep.

Several little things added up to make it a scummy place: abundance of cleaning product smells, service bins, etc. stored in hallways, abundance of smoking outside hotel and history of smoking in hotel, duct tape on the sink overflow, water stains on ceiling and light fixture

The good things I can think of are:
1. Free books in the lobby 2. Nice hot shower 3. It's relatively cheap 4. The bathroom, sheets, towels, etc. were clean.

This place is barely limping along just because of its location. I think it's best suited for those who are drinking, gambling, and don't sleep much or care about the other people in the hotel.

This hotel is a great value at just 39 per night, and a great location. Across the street from the casinos, and 15 mins from Northstar. Free internet, parking, and coffee. By far the best deal in Tahoe!

While the motel is relatively old and the rooms (furniture etc.) are run down, it offers a very good value if you are mainly looking for a place to sleep over night. The room a friend and I were staying in was clean and the staff helpful. There is a hot tub (even though not with a great view), free WiFi and if you ask you can get discounted lift tickets. I would not go there if I expected to stay for extended periods at the motel/in my room, but I would stay there again for future ski trips. For that purpose the place offers a really good value.
