“Clean, affordable, comfortable beds!”
Reviewed January 6, 2013 via mobile

Love this hotel. The beds are cozy and its a good thing because it was cold outside! New carpet. Room was very clean and large! We had a view of the river out back and the sierras out front. Hubby was able to wake up early and go into the other room to enjoy his coffee and watch TV on one of the flat screens. Again, LOVED this hotel!

Thank you - we have made lots of updates - flat screen tvs, remodeled the bathrooms, updated bedding and curtains. But the nature outside is the most beautiful - lots of snow for snowmobiling, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and the ice skating pond is right next door!!

Made last minute reservations for a final fishing weekend and thought the room was great, extremely clean and quiet. The bed was super comfortable. Only complaint was a pretty noisy wall fan, but other than that, we loved it!

Thank you for the nice review. You must have stayed in room 30. We have tried to get that fan changed for a month! With small towns, sometimes it takes awhile for things to get fixed, but we are on it, I promise!

Very comfortable rooms, with deck overlooking lawn area and river. Rooms come with fridge, microwave, coffee maker, tv and wi-fi. The lawn area allows dogs (if you don't clean-up after your pet there is a fine, so do the right thing!). There are picnic tables and several bbq's for guests use. Deck is great for watching stars and sunrises.

Room Tip: Single story court style, but rooms with river view are the best!

This is a nice motel. The rooms are small but clean. They have a small breakfast area at the office and its enough to get you going. The rooms are clean , with coffee and a micro wave in the room. The room was around $100, I would say $ 79 would be a more reasonable price. One thing everyone needs to remember, is most of the motels only have a 7 month season . The ones closer to skiing do better in the winter. So I guess the motels in farther away towns from wwinter sports need to charge a little more. I like the rooms at Walker that face the river, good fishing there.

Room Tip: Get one looking toward the river

Wanted to "leaf peep" in the Eastern Sierra and figured that Bridgeport was the most central location for lodging. We have driven through Bridgeport many times on our way to Tahoe, but never did much more than stop for a frosty at Jolly Kone. The Walker River Lodge has a small town charm and look that I love. We stayed in a room with two queens and it was immaculate. There was an exterior sink, refrigerator, microwave, flat screen TV, and small table with two chairs. There is air conditioning, and the heat is provided by one of those long vents that are near the floor. it was 32 degrees in the mornings and we were quite warm. Yes, the room was a little "tight" but not to the extent that it detracted from our experience. The Wifi was spotty, but good enough for us to look up reviews of local eateries. There is a sliding glass door which leads to a nice porch and grassy area. The river was a trickle which I'm sure is not unusual in Oct. in a drought year. The owners were very pleasant. We all agreed that we would not hesitate to stay here again.

Room Tip: We walked directly across the street to the Hays Street Cafe for breakfast. It was great! They are o...

We were heading to Bridgeport for fishing and sight seeing. We saw a review and made a reservation. This motel is one of the nicest places we have stayed in a long time. We had room #30 with twin queen beds on river. River is low so that is not the attraction. We ate lunch at a very nice restaurant directly across the street. Whoever gave this place a bad review should have their head examined. Nice service. Clean is an understatement. It is very well maintained with comfortable beds.

Room Tip: Stay in main hotel not apartments off site.

Smallest room I've ever stayed in--about 12x12. They tried to squeeze a king size bed in there and a reg double would have more than filled it. Absolutely too small to walk around the room w/o moving chairs or closing closet door or moving other things out of way.

Wall-mounted A/C just inside door was only 8 feet from our heads so running it while we tried to sleep was idiotic. Noise was comparable to having a room next to highway. We tried to cool room down and then turn A/C off when we went to bed.

Room was not clean. Maids couldn't get to the walls due to cramped quarters so they left a 1-2 inch dust track all around floors where they met the bottom of walls. Sink was located in the room because the bath was too small. And the sink was about what you would find in a jail--corner mounted and no area to place toiletries, shaver, etc.

Curtains did not provide adequate closure so outside lights shined in on each side of window.

Receptionist (owner??) seemed to make a big deal of paying in advance. Most places take your credit card at check in and make no big deal of it. Continental breakfast wasn't available until 8 AM when most people are up and out, so this was a throw-away part of our room cost. Rate was way too high in comparison for this town and especially this motel. We stayed at a B&B only 1 1/2 hrs on other side of Yosemite that charged the same amount and was three times the value. Why did we stay there you ask? We were trying to find a place that avoided all the junk we had experienced in Lee Vining in past trips. Bridgeport seemed a nicer place and we decided to try it. Bad decision.

One final comment: Lodge makes a big point of it's river view rooms and charges $10-20 more for those rooms. W. River is an overgrown "crick" by my southern experiences; you can almost jump across it if it wasn't for the weeds and bushes that prevent you from accessing most of it. The lodge BBQ was also out in the sun with no protection. Not a very pleasant situation.

Fact - Our absolute smallest room is 16 x 19 - over twice the size stated and we have pelnty of rooms and suites that are much bigger.

Fact - In our smallest room the air conditioner is 15 feet away from where you lay your head on the pillow. Again, twice as far as stated. And again, we have plenty of rooms and suites that are bigger.

Fact - The sink is a standard size with 6 inches on the sides and a shelf over the sink for more toiletries.

Fact - We charge credit cards upon check-in - there are no additional charges the guest can incur - direct dial phones, we do not have mini-bars, etc.

Fact - California and much of the Nation is experiencing a drought - the river is low and the lawn area is cleared to the river.

Opinion - I believe our housekeepers do an outstanding job - the work very hard and our rooms are very clean.
