“ohhhhh yeah!”
Reviewed April 5, 2012

We recently had the delightful opportunity to enjoy the fine food and atmosphere in this wonderful spot. This is an old school steak and seafood restaurant. The wait staff are awesome, long white aprons, years of experience, friendly, helpful, a joy to behold.
I had a wonderful Rib Chop (I am very picky about rib steak) and returned the next night for the calamari steak which was perfect.
Nice little bar, the main dining downstairs is a little loud but a great experience. if you want someplace a little quieter they have a dining room upstairs also.
Please stop in if you are anywhere in the East Bay area, you will not be disappointed.

“Go elsewhere for good seafood & check your bill!”
Reviewed February 29, 2012

Cap's Oak Street Bar & Grill is located in the historic district of Brentwood. There are a few tables in the bar area for dining, and then steps going down to a larger dining room, with an open kitchen. We went there really wanting to like it. We shared appetizers the crab cakes were mostly breading with little crab and overcooked, the oysters were not briny fresh, and were opened poorly with multiple pieces of shells in every bite. The salads use bruised iceberg lettuce. The fish special was over-salted and served with two pieces of steamed broccoli. The cioppino broth used too much saffron so it had a smokey taste, and the seafood did not seem fresh, the crab in the crab louie was fine, but served over wilted iceberg lettuce. Our waiter disappeared during the meal, and even the other servers couldn't find him. The bus person said yeah he does that quite a bit. The restaruant thought they had sparkling water, but then came back 10 minutes later to say they were wrong, they didn't have any. When we received the bill they charged $3.00 more for oysters then the menu price. When questioned, the owner came over and said oh that is because they still had New Year's Eve prices in their computer (even though it was the end of January?). For 2 appetizers, 3 entrees, no dessert, and 1 person had 1 glass of wine, the bill was over $150.00 before tip. This is an old dinosaur of a restaurant that seriously needs updating in their menu, and approach to dining. There was another table near us who was eating prime rib, and frankly their food looked much better than ours. Perhaps their specialty is meat. If you are looking for good seafood, go elsewhere, and if you eat here, check your bill!
