We've stayed here three times now. The regular rooms are very, very clean and are comfortable. I found the suite to be dark and a bit dingy. Would not rent that one again. And it's a bit disconcerting to see the caged birds in their courtyard...I mean, the hotel is in the middle of a national park and you have caged birds?! As others have mentioned, it's on the main road so you do hear a lot of traffic. I'm also very disappointed that they are not more accommodating for special dietary needs when it comes to breakfast. For example, they don't have any soy/almond milk on hand...who doesn't have that these days, especially in California? All that being said, this is our fall-back option when the home we usually rent through VRBO is not available. It meets our needs but considering that we can rent a home cheaper than a room at their inn, well...

Thanks for your return visit. We are truly sorry that your preferred lodging option was not available to you and that you considered your stay with us sub-par.

You visited at the peak of the peak season, at peak season rates. For those who appreciate what we offer, there are a number of attractively priced specials available for booking now, for visits from April 29 through December.

We sincerely hope that your next visit to Borrego Springs is more satisfactory for you, and that the trails ahead are very happy ones.

Great owner/receptionist, excellent breakfast, beautiful location, very nicely decorated.
Very much recommended to stay here if you go to Borrego springs, maybe you will be able to get it a bit cheaper than the $280 per night we paid.
Go for a hike to palm canyon, check out the weird metal statues in the desert to the north of Christmas circle and enjoy the evening in the hot tub watching the sun set.
Another slight downside is that I felt like I was in a very expensive retirement home, since 100% of guests excluding us were retirees. But nothing management could or should do about that, just putting it out there.

Thanks so much for finding us and making the effort to visit. We appreciate your comments, and we're happy you enjoyed your stay. Mid-February through April is the "peak of the peak" season for Borrego Springs (and March is the peak of the peak of the peak), and rates reflect demand. Starting April 29 (and available now for booking), we offer a number of great deals for new and repeat guests. Check out the affordable (and very popular) "Specials" on our website, available through December.

We welcome a wide range of guests from all over the world, young and older, and most of the time it's an even mix. Spring in the desert attracts a number of young-at-heart retirees, and they are certainly traveling these days! Thanks again for visiting, and we hope your future travels are happy and satisfying.

It's always a pleasure to find ourselves at the Borrego Valley Inn where the service is friendly and helpful (El Borrego, best mexican food in a rustic environment). The rooms are cosy and there is a peaceful feeling there, sitting on the porch, watching the sun come up or go down. And then there's breakfast; we always eat outdoors, listening to the finches, among the cacti, savouring home made breads, honey flavoured yogurt and fruit, a endless coffee, planning the day's hike or regretting our departure.Until next year.

And it's always a special treat to welcome return visitors like you, too. It sounds like you find the joy in simple pleasures, especially being outside with the flora and fauna all around. And there's nothing like experiencing nature while enjoying small creature comforts like a yummy breakfast and endless coffee! There's always more exploring to do here, so we hope to see you again for another visit. Until then, we wish you the very best.

It sits in the middle of a small desert valley. The motel is an Oasis of comfort and care. The rooms are modern, clean and quiet. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast [included] was excellent. You know you are in a motel where the owners care about their guests when the coffee is of the highest quality. Service was welcoming and attentive. We can't think of a single criticism. We are from the East Coast and are trying to plan a return trip for a longer stay.

Thanks for finding us and making the trip out here to the middle of nowhere. We're very happy you enjoyed your stay, and we share your enthusiasm for a good cup of coffee. We serve Equator Estate blends, and we love it, too. We're east coasters ourselves, so we understand about wanting to stay a little longer next time. We hope you can and do. Until then, we hope your trails are happy ones!

This is a lovely setting with spacious rooms, attention to detail, great breakfast, and fresh-baked cookies every aftenoon. And it operates with great consideration. By the time the friends traveling with us were able to phone about some clothes they had left behind, the manager had packaged them up and sent them to our home address. Talk about service!

Room Tip: Depends on how close you want to be to the swimming pools, one of which is swimsuit-optional. Noise...

This small desert inn exudes casual relaxed elegance from the ambiance of the garden with the aviary of finches to the private patios off each of the 15 rooms. Our stays have been delightfully serene whether staying in the "casita suite" which has a separate bedroom, living area and full kitchen, or one of the palo verde or ocotillo rooms. All have been lovely and we keep coming back every year. We enjoyed the expanded breakfasts which had a more gourmet flair compared to our visit last year. We also have enjoyed meeting other guests with every visit. The staff is very personable and helpful with things to do and see and recommendations for restaurants, some of which do need advance reservations. This is not an inn for families with young children, especially since rooms are limited to only two occupants. It could be a great venue for a small intimate family celebration such as an anniversary or destination wedding. It is definitely worth repeat visits, especially for those who love the desert.

You remind us of us! We were living in Santa Monica, and after our very first visit 15 years ago, we returned within a month. We kept coming back so often that we came to regard the Inn as "our place in the desert" (little did we know!) More than 60% of our guests are repeat visitors, which means we celebrate "old home week" a lot with them. We're glad you like Chef Pamela's breakfast meun -- the aromas this morning in the breakfast room are tantalizing! Thank you so much for returning and for your kind words. We wish you Happy Trails ahead!

From the first sight of the Inn it seems perfect for the desert location in which it sits, like a great adobe home. The staff are very welcoming and after our third visit this year they seem more like family than staff. The breakfasts have always been wonderful and with the addition of a hot dish each morning they are superb. The rooms are tidy and full of art and artifacts of the desert Southwest. After hiking the hot, dusty trails that abound, there are home baked cookies and a refreshing swim in one of the two pools to look forward to. At night it is delightful to sit back in your private patio and gaze at the myriad stars above before climbing into the most comfortable bed of any hotel or Inn we've stayed in. It is a little bit of heaven in the desert.

Your words truly warm our hearts! We feel like you -- we love to welcome returning guests, and after a while, it does feel like family. Most of the staff have known each other for years, and some have been here since Day One, so "home" it is for us, too. We're happy to hear you like our new breakfast menu! "Heaven in the desert" sounds great to us, and we're thrilled to know you enjoyed your stay. We look forward to your next visit, and thanks again for your generous post.
