“It is worth the visit”
Reviewed February 3, 2013

This is a gem of a state park. We checked out the RV and campsites and took one small hike and one longer hike. The longer one was to an oasis, and was about 3 mi roundtrip. It was described as "easy". Yes it would be easy for a fit young person, but not so for older folks. So I found the characterization a little mis-leading, and was most definitely challenged on this hike, having to scramble over boulders and unsteady stepping stones across little streams. I'm glad I did it, but it definitely was more of a challenge than I'd thought. I felt sorry for older and infirm folks I saw on the trail. All in all though, a great experience I'm glad I didn't miss.

“Beautiful and fun place”
Reviewed January 29, 2013

This is the desert at its best - beautiful rock formations, canyons, diverse and interesting vegetation. Some trailheads can be accessed using an ordinary car, but you need a 4WD, or go one one of the tours such as California Overland Desert Excursions (awesome tour!!) to really get the full experience

“Anza Borrego State Park”
Reviewed January 25, 2013

The place is clean and well-maintained for a state park.
The parking spots (some are nowhere level), are all paved.
The showers are token operated. The smell of camp fires permeates the place all day. There are lots of hikes in the vicinity.

“Wonderful dessert”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

The area is vast and varied, and could easily occupy you for a couple of weeks. We went to a palm oasis near the park headquarters and a wonderful slot canyon called "The Slot". Inquire at the HQ.
