“Lots of history in a little town in the foothills of the Sierras”

Silver City Ghost Town

Attraction details
Reviewed February 8, 2012

Lots of history is evident in this little recreated town up in the Southern Sierra where early settlers battled nature and unsavory characters to create a wide spread community in what is now the Kern River Valley in Central California. Many Western movies were filmed here. Silver City is said to be haunted by residents who lived here during the past couple of centuries.

I highly recommend the 'Lantern Tour / Ghost Hunt', including the LIVE Paranormal Investigation. I went once solo, and this time I'm bringing my girlfriend to share the experience together. The ghost town at night is so creepy, and you can walk back in time, as you see, feel, and breathe the very essence of the old gun-fighters and miners, as they lived and died - in the 1800's.

We went at night. Even though the information was interesting, and I commend the owner for salvaging these historic buildings, the cameras flashing in the tour group were distracting and blinding. There were people there from Fresno, Ca who investigate the paranormal. When it came time to let us hear the ghost speak, they discovered that a part of their equipment was missing that would help us hear. I thought, how ironic. The voice was supposed to be saying Pete when asked who they were. I didn't hear anything but what sounded like a small whisp of air. It wasn't worth the $12 per person charged, and I won't go back again.
