“A very good place”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

The Lodge is a sprawling complex of two-storey buildings overlooking the tidal pools of the bay. The rooms were very spacious and clean, although quite dated. The views are gorgeous, especially at sunset. The common areas were uniformly excellent. The walks around the property aresplendid, overall the stay was very pleasant. The staff was happy to recommend the places to visit and places to eat at. They serve water, tea and coffee in the 'den' in the reception building. In the end, we had dinner both nights in the hotel's restaurant, which was definitely the best choice in the area. Overall the hotel can be a great base for your explorations of the nearby coastal line. Point Reyes is a great day trip, for example.

Stayed in Bodega Lodge for 4 nights last week. Lovely spacious lodge rooms . Plent of room for 3 to a room. Ate twice in restaurant and once in bar and found food and service very good.
Staff attentive and helpful especially at reception. 15 minute walk to beach . Nice walking trails near hotel. Coastal fog can be a problem . Took 2 days to burn off .
One criticism ,the real fireplaces in the rooms advertised burn manufactured fire logs, Would be far nicer to burner some natural wood as does the wonderful fire in reception.
Free wine and cheese reception each evening a nice touch.

Room Tip: Take a first floor room for better views.

Doing a road trip along scenic hwy 1 in CA and timing-wise, Bodega Bay was a good place to stop for the night. What a treat to pull into the charming Bodega Bay Lodge......and it kept impressing. We are happy to give it an Excellent rating.

Beautifully landscaped grounds overlooking bay with coastal trail access. Rooms are large with balcony, fireplace and sofa and chair. However the fireplace had a fake log with eucalyptus scent which irritated my eyes. Comfortable king bed.

Hot tub and small pool have nice setting facing bay. Fire pit outside bar area is nice in evening. Restaurant is quite good but you will probably need reservations for weekend. However you can be served in bar area if restaurant is filled.

Great location - hotel is a quiet retreat but you can be in wine country, walking Bodega Head or eating in town in ten - thirty min.

Room Tip: Better views from second floor although mainly stairs to second floor

We had originally planned to stay for 2 nights in early September and ended up extending our visit by 2 extra days. Bodega Bay Lodge may be the most beautiful place we have stayed. The view from the oceanside is absolutely beautiful. We would spend our days in Sonoma County and return in the evening through the beautiful winding roads. Watching the sunset from our balcony or from the outdoor whirlpool was breathtaking. Our room was also clean and beautiful, and the complementary evening wine in the lobby was a great way to relax before dinner. We definitely want to return to this gorgeous destination - completely worth it not to stay closer to Sonoma.

This is a sleepy fishing village with day trips easily manageable if you have a navigation device to find your way through winding, canopied roads. We toured five little towns today. History of area intriguing. Rooms are large; linens crisp; toiletries Gilchrist & Soames; food at the Duck Club great. This is an escape from SF or other large towns. Bring a book or artist easel or sewing project. Golf, fish, hike, horse riding, wind surf, visit agriculture farms. Hope you do not mind the 24/7 foghorn which sounds every 7 seconds---worried us at first.. Windy, cold, so bring warm beach attire. I like this place. See my posted restaurant reviews for couples or kids. This area is for solitude...

Room Tip: We were quite happy with large room on first floor; upstairs is more expensive.
