Once again, spending a few Christmas days at the lodge. We have been staying here for twenty years. They are always upgrading and improving. The staff is service oriented, friendly and very accommodating, this time a bit slow. The food in the Duck Club is always a treat. And better yet, is a nice, hot, duck dinner, on a stormy, night from room service. We always enjoy room service, in front of our fireplace. Falling asleep, to the wonderful sound, of the fog horn in the bay. We always hate to leave.

Room Tip: Also great for families, as there is much to do around the Bay.

This was just average. For the price we paid i do not believe it was as great as all of the other places we stayed on our trip. The best part of staying at the Bodega Bay Lodge was getting to use the hot tub located by the pool by ourselves during a rain storm. It was pretty cool. But the rooms were nothing special and there was a fog horn going off constantly so we had to ask for ear plugs at the front desk. I would stay somewhere else next time.

The first thing you notice about the property is the near perfect location, it sits on a bluff overlooking the marsh flats of the bay with Doran Beach and the hills off in the distance. Lots of bird life , deer and the pounding of the surf in the distance coupled with the barking of sea lions at night make for a close to nature experience, ideal for this area. The reception is nicely done with an adjoining game and reading lounge connected to it with coffee and tea most of the day.
The staff were all very welcoming , friendly and helpful. They were pleasant from beginning to end.
It felt like a really well managed hotel at all times.
The rooms are well appointed, we were really fortunate to be upgraded to a suite which was lovely. we had reserved an upper room any way because we really wanted a good view of the water. We appreciated the especially clear and direct view to the landscape from the suite and the expanded interior space although did not use the whirlpool tub. The bed was super soft with a pillow top pad , & great pillows, BOSE stereo, large LG flat screen, nice lighting options and a comfy fireplace. One comment t, they could use more electric outlets for laptops and other devices.
The bath was large, with a double sink and all accessories we needed and nice soaps, towels, and robes .
At 5 pm every day they serve wine and cheese. I think a small complimentary continental breakfast would have been a nice touch. They only served coffee and tea. Of course there is an excellent restaurant, The Duck Club, across the parking lot, which seemed fairly reasonable for breakfast but was on the pricey side for dinner.
The 80 degree pool and outdoor jacuzzi were perfect even in the very frigid 40 degree weather. There was a nice workout room and a traditional sauna which heated well.
I would recommend this hotel to any one wanting a close up experience with the natural local beauty of the bay.
REMINDER: Bring a good pair of binoculars, there is a lot to see here.

Room Tip: Get the upper rooms for the better views. and bring binoculars the view is spectacular.

We have passed this hotel many times on our way to Doran Beach. I didn't realize it was as nice as it was. We had a corner room on the 6th floor with a view of the ocean. Our room had a fireplace and a two person soaking tub. There were also very comfy, plush robes (to borrow) and slippers (to take). We had dinner at the hotel at the Duck Club Restaurant. Dinner was one of the best we have ever had--every bite was delicious!
The grounds are lovely and very quiet. This is a great getaway for people in the Bay Area and visitors to the Sonoma Coast.

Room Tip: Ask for a view!

Just returned from a two-night stay (12/13 and 12/14) for a birthday getaway.
We booked a room with ocean view through Booking.com. However the room
assigned to us was quite different from the one shown on the Booking.com's
website initially. Later we found out the picture is the for the coast upper room
and the one we got is the coast lower. When we stand up on the balcony, we
have a ocean/bay view, and we face the parking lot when sitting on the chairs.
No privacy at all.

The heating units in the room are loud and the nearby foghorn blasts frequently
(every 30 seconds) throughout the day and night. It was difficult for us to sleep.

The ceilings are low and the walls are thin, and we could hear neighbor's shower
running and toilet flushing.

There is a wine and cheese reception around 5 pm daily, that's quite nice.
Complimentary Peet's coffee served in the lobby is highly appreciated.

We had dinner and breakfast at the Duck Club restaurant on site. The food
was above average and the portions were small. Comparing with the nearby
restaurants the price was reasonable. The Duck club dining room does
provide a lovely view of the bay.

We did also enjoy the hottub, pool and sauna facilities around the spa area.
In addition, The grounds are beautiful and it is a quite coastal setting.

Stayed here Thanksgiving weekend. Was pleasantly surprised. Grounds are quite nice, great view of Doran Beach and the place was QUIET! Not only that, but very clean and the rooms were large with a fireplace in the corner, mini-bar, nice bathrobes. Plus it's not a long drive at all from the Bay Area. There's a pool and hot tub (didn't use it) and a restaurant with very good food (see separate review under Restaurants).

Room Tip: We had a lower floor and you could hear people walking around upstairs. I would choose the upper lev...

We luckily had beautiful weather visiting the Bodega Bay Lodge. Our room wasn't ready when we arrived, but Natalie kindly took a phone number and called us a few minutes later to let us know that we could check in. Our room was incredibly beautiful and had both a standing shower and a lovely bath tub. Everything about the property was amazing from the pool to the restaurant to the lobby. I would definitely recommend staying here and hope to visit again next year!
