My wife and I ate there last night. We haven't been there in 4 years and went back there based on the good food ansd service. We went at 4pm and the place was empty, whcih we bouth thought was odd based on the good food and service in the past. We ordered a crab ravioli which was good, but $9. My wife ordered the Tempura Prawns for $15 and got six prawns which were all under cooked, and a side of fries. I got the Golden Platter at $19. It consisted of one deep fried cod about 5" long, two undercooked prawns, over cooked/ rubbery calamari, and fries. Our sodas were also not mixed right and had very little flavor. Our total was $51.96. I left a subpar tip but the server was nice and checked on us regularly. We left about half the food on the plate. We've had dinners that were way better and cost about half the price in Morro Bay and Avila Beach.
We left completely unsatisfied and found some locals to talk to for next time as we crab here regularly. Apparently The Sandpipers owners have changed hands quite a bit and per the locals the chefs are drunks and thieves. The staff also open and closes whenever they want, so theirs no regular hours.
I looked up reviews after leaving here and read a review on Google which said they overcharged the lady $5 when she looked at her credit card statement several days later. Sad to say, we probably won't be back anytime in the near furture. Locals recommended the Boat House across the street.
