“Quaint and Affordable”
Reviewed August 21, 2011

We stayed here for our anniversary. It was a perfect weekend. The room(#10) was just the right size for a couple. The rooms were clean and decorated with a small chest of drawers, armoire and tv. We were able to arrive early and check in without any problems. Gregory and his wife were very friendly and helpful. Gregory is very knowledgeable and was able to provide maps/ideas for several outings. We liked that the inn is close to the main road and easily accessible.
Next time we plan on enjoying the view of the bay out in the colorful Adirondack chairs.

This is the third time I have tried to review this hotel so if they show up all at once,my apologies. This is the short version:We were very pleased with our stay at the Inn. I went by schwantz's review when I looked for a place on tripadvisor and it turned out to be very accurate. Our room (6) was so cute and comfy and the tile in the shower was beautiful. Simple and relaxing. No big perks like spa tubs or refrigerators but do you really have to have all that at the beach anyway. I highly recommend this place to rest and enjoy the harbor

Bodega Bay is famous for many things - most importantly the 1963 Hitchcock movie "The Birds". Another soon-to-be famous spot is the Bodega Bay Harbor Inn. Like the Hitchcock film, it offers the drama of experiencing Bodega Bay without pesky birds attacking you!

The hotel's clean rooms, nice view of the bay from sitting in multi-colored Adirondack chairs, friendly staff, and low-key continental breakfast for a value price is their key competitive advantage in a town with over-priced lodging alternatives.

If you're looking for super luxury, perfect rooms, then this is not your place. If you want a sense of older Bodega Bay hospitality, then this is your place. Where else does the owner shake your hand when you check out THANKING YOU for your business?

The Inn is conveniently located to the corner Grocery Store and a super cool Fish-n-Chips place with fresh fish. A half-mile is the Roadhouse Coffee Shop (must visit!) where the locals hang out and Jim the owner in a long-white beard is a kick.

I stayed 5 days, 4 nights. Explored the area and felt very much apart of the community by the time I left.

Room Tip: Rooms 14 and 12 are the best rooms; I was in Room 9 - good room.

i have always said that i book hotels and eat a restaurants based off of reviews. having said that, i don't normally write them. so now is my time for pay back. we stayed here last night. it was great. bodega bay is a very very cool spot. very sleepy and beautiful. not much to do but still very cool. the beach was the best (saw whales) and the harbor very pretty (saw a sea lion). this hotel was perfect. i used to manage hotels and i can give this a big thumbs up. here is the real story. the rooms are small but that's all you need. there's no a/c but the weather does not require that. the tv has tons of channels but you should not go there to watch tv. the continental breakfast was very good and offered local pastries and breads. all in all, this place is a perfect location, the staff is super helpful, the town is great and just a really nice place to stay. if you like the 4 seasons, this is not the town or the hotel for you, but if you are looking for a really cute town and to enjoy the nature, beaches and hikes, this is a great place to stay. would love to return. hope this helps.

Be it a family run guest house, restaurant chain or any other business for that matter. It is the people involved that make the difference between somewhere being ordinary and easily forgotten, to being some place that really stands out.

Bodega Harbor Inn just happens to be one of those rare places where the people really do strive to be better. I arrived late afternoon on the 14th of july. Now for those who do not know me (basically anybody reading this) i am not the happiest person in the world after a long drive. But on this occasion the staff were so happy and eager to help out i quickly felt at ease. The manager ( Gregory i think) was very helpful in showing me a map of the town and surrounding area. Extremely knowledgeable which believe me really helps when you a wanting to explore an area some more.

On top of the stand out staff the actual accommodation is very attractive. Think Seaside beach houses and you have a good idea of what the inn is like. Nothing far to up market but for the price it really is great value for money.

At first glance Harbor Cottage at the Harbor Inn was nothing special, but after 2 nights of our 3 night stay, we were inquiring about staying a 4th night. Very quiet, very relaxing, private hot tub, and walking distance to restaurants and stores. We will be back!

If you are looking for a simple and friendly place for a short trip to the coast, this place is fine. We had a king bed room with a view of sorts through the French doors, which were also the only windows. This meant that having a view also meant not having privacy. The room was quite small, but my wife liked the simple antique furniture. No refir or microwave in our small room. The continental breakfast was very basic; no protein. The manager and staff were super helpful providing excellent advice on things to do in the area, which was a real plus. Decent value for this area, but I would opt for a bigger room with some kind of kitchen facility next time.

Room Tip: If you want a room with a view of Bodega Bay, ask and get a detailed explanation.
