“yummy breakfast”
Reviewed October 9, 2011

We stayed at the Bodega Bay and only ate breakfast here, it was very good and lots of healthy choices but the service was great 2 of the 3 days and when it was bad it was horrible. The food was again consistant 2 of the 3 mornings and when it was bad it was so bad. The views from the restaurant were great and it felt a bit over priced.

“Very enjoyable dinner”
Reviewed September 12, 2011

We did not get a table by the window, but were in the 2nd row. However we were very happy with our table, we still had a great view. The food was delicious. I had the halibut, and my husband had the special--a pork chop. We enjoyed our meal immensely.

“Unbelievable food!”
Reviewed August 23, 2011

We only had the pleasure of dining at the Duck Club once, but I would definitely go back. The food was phenomenal!

Make sure to make a reservation as it is a small restaurant and fills up fast.
If possible, get a seat in front of the window. The restaurant is right on the bluff where there's a lot of wildlife. We saw three deer (mom and two babies) and a fox. In addition, it overlooks the bay and, at the right time of the evening, you can also see the sunset.

Being right outside wine country, they have a wonderful list of wines to choose from. We brought a bottle from our wine tours that day, but decided to order from the list instead since there were so many great options. The prices are very reasonable too.

We had the Dungeness Crab Cakes as an appetizer, which were the best crab cakes I have ever had. They are served with a roasted red pepper sauce and a tomato ginger chutney.

King salmon was in season, so I had that as my entree and it was incredible! Very fresh and simply prepared - perfect!

For dessert, I had the seasonal fresh fruit crisp which was with strawberries and rhubarb. It did not disappoint!

Overall, it gets five stars! The service, wine, food, view...it was a very memorable dining experience.

The breakfast was also good. It was included with our room, and obviously convenient. I really don't have any comments about it though...it was breakfast!

“Gives New Meaning to The Slow Food Movement”
Reviewed August 18, 2011

We stopped by at opening time to see if we could eat later that evening and were told we didn't need a reservation if we wanted to eat in the 'Fireside' room next door to the main dining room. We found the lighting in the Duck Club dining room a little too bright, while the Fireside room had a huge fireplace and much softer lighting (better to see the amazing view out the big window).

What we didn't know was that the one and only waitress in the Fireside room was responsible for all the room service deliveries as well, which is why she was gone for very long stretches of time. The fact that she was so sweet and hard working (for example, asking if we wanted our shared entree split by the kitchen onto two plates) made sitting and staring at an empty table for 45 minutes (we never received glasses of water or bread) with two empty wine glasses on it even stranger than it already was.

And it didn't help that there was a great deal of fussing involved in setting up a table, filling water glasses, etc., for eight people while we were waiting. We called one of the staff members over to our table to point out that we were waiting 20 minutes for two more glasses of wine and our entrees, and he very kindly explained that our waitress would be back as soon as she was finished with her room service deliveries!

The bartender finally figured out that we were feeling pretty spare (we were actually thinking of calling it a night) and brought us the wine we'd ordered. My pinot noir $15 glass of wine tasted off (corked or something) and I called him back over and suggested he taste the wine. He did. He picked up my glass of wine from the table and tasted it!

It was a very strange dining experience with excellent food.

“Lovely environment with excellent service, food is ok.”
Reviewed August 13, 2011

The seafood sampler appetizer was wonderful. The spinach salad with goat cheese rounds and oranges was good. The entrees gnocchi with mozzarella side of beets on a bed of spinach. This failed, the gnocchi was fried brown and the olive oil from the sauteed spinach drowned the dumplings. Texture unpleasant and lacked true defination for taste. The Halibut was excellent. The dessert a fruit crisp was lackluster just too sweet. Lovely ambience but the food needs to be better for the level of pricing.
