Ok, I'll admit it, first time seeing the Pacific in person and what a sight from Bodega Rock. Fantastic. Great scenery with the cliffs and drop off into the Pacific. Wether was perfect when we were there and I could not have asked for a better day. Knock anther item off my bucket list.

Great view of the Pacific. Wonderful location for photography. When we went it was 52 degrees and probably 40-50 mph winds...wow. Very bracing.

It was cold, windy and if you were not careful you might find yourself on the ground. We went anyway because it was there. Actually, the wind made the waves more spectacular and it was blowing toward shore so no problem being lifted off the tall cliffs. I walked as far as I felt was reasonable under the conditions and got some very nice photos even though the haze diluted some of the shots. We will be here a week, so I plan to return on a sunny day; however, it can be sunny just over the hills and hazy on the water...you take your chances. it was beautiful anyway. It was a wonderful start to a coastal ride up to Goat Rock to see the seals.

We traveled the shoreline from Bodega Bay to Goat Rock and along the way stopped at Bodega Rock where the sun appeared and it was like a different weather pattern from the morning. we saw the seals at Goat Rock resting on the sand bar and the had a terrific lunch at the Cape Fear Cafe in Duncan Mills. The "rock" is beautiful and the hiking quit easy. All in all a great day trip along part of the beautiful CA coast. Again, I marvel at how accessible the CA coast is to the people. No fees all day. Dress in layers the temperature changed by 20 degrees in four hours. From food to bright sun. Bathroom facilities are available in many viewpoints.

We spent a lovely day at Bodega Head. Saw 5 whales migrating north, including a mom and calf. Hiked all over the place for lots of spectacular views. Hike north towards Overlook through meadows, hardly anyone was there and it was lovely - views of the coast as well as of Bodega Bay. Hike down to beach below the viewing area - pretty easy and fun place to hang out for a bit. The hikes south are busier but you do get stunning views of the coast as well as Bodega Bay.
