Fantastic lunch spot stop on your way to or from Bodega Head. Fresh chowder and sandwiches; you know it's good because of the line of locals waiting to eat there!

“Chowder and Crab Cakes”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 17, 2011

This is always on our "stop for lunch" list when we are in the area. No, it is not a 5 star restaurant but great clam chowder and good crab cakes (when you can get them - they are usually ready around 12:45 on Saturdays and Sundays). Fresh dungeness crab is a true treat also. Elbow up to your fellow diners at the outside picnic tables or go grab a bench and watch the view at the marina!

“Nice afternoon lunch spot”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 14, 2011

We ate here after reading all the rave reviews on TA, so perhaps our expectations were a bit too high. The food was good, but I wouldn't rave about it.
We had crab sandwiches & clam chowder. All was good but not "great" as we had expected. As we were eating they announced that the crab cakes were ready & people were lining up for them, so we figured we ought to try those too. Again, okay, not great.
It is a very tiny shop with just a couple picnic tables out front & almost no parking. After driving by a couple times searching for parking, we would have kept going if it weren't for the reviews we had read.
It's right across from the marina, so that was interesting to watch while we ate.
Overall it is a good place.

“Awesome chowder”

Great clam chowder. Pass on shrimp cocktail and stick with crab cakes. Outdoor seating only, next to marina. Cool spot.

“Darn good chowda”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 5, 2011

You would think we some of the best shellfish/seafood out your backdoor, BB would be teeming with great restaurants. By some cosmic joke it actually has some of the worst seafood restaurants around save for Terrapin Creek and this little (and I mean LITTLE) joint. The chowder is pretty darn good and you get a decent sized "to go" container for around $7. The crab cakes (which go fast and are only available a couple days a week) can be hit or miss. I've had them when they've been cooked perfectly and delish but the last time they were overcooked and kinda burnt.

All seating is outside, picnic table style with room for about 20 people. Last time were there they had a gentleman playing softly on a guitar which was a nice touch. Parking on site only holds 3 cars but there's usually some parking down the street not too far. Strange, but they're closed on Wednesdays
