“Not worth the money”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 24, 2013

Hi,
I chose this accommodation for lack of any other vacancy in Bodega Bay and would not recommend it.
I paid 200$ per night. During summer weekends one has to book two nights...
What did I get:
A room with King bed, one chair, one very old Bathroom (rusty shower curtain holder, Shower plastic-tiles not waterproof anymore, only two bars of soap, no Shampoo).
Worst though, I have never seen such a horrible stained carpet.
The balcony was nice, however spider infested.

As mentioned, we were "forced" to stay two nights. The only thing that was done to the room between nights: change the towels.
The Bed was not made, the shower not cleaned.

I would not recommend this hotel. It is not worth the price (and I have stayed in Bodega Bay before for less and a lot better)

yes it was a bit quirky, just an overnight stay for us on way down the coast. agree not too much around but we found nice restaurant 5 minutes drive away.

our room was at the end of the garden area, great hot showers though and clean linen.

We reserved the 'Memories" room that stated they had a covered private balcony with views to the water. We were greeted when we arrived but for the next two days there was no one on duty.
What we got was a filthy patio w/ dirty chairs altho' covered faced the parking lot and a small strip mall.
LEt's see what other MEMORIES do I have, stained shower, toilet paper hanger off the wall, NO bathroom counter, room so small NO place for the suitcase except on the bed, OLD furniture, disgustingly OLD pillows, the room simply felt like a closet that needed a good spring cleaning. Outside the gardner apparently was also MIA, as weeds and dry cuttings greeted you as you entered from the street. We had stayed there several years ago, 'out back' and it seemed much better, apparently it is NOT a high priority to provide a "MEMORABLE" stay.

I stayed a pleasant two days at the Bodega Bay Inn. The Inn is owned by a younger man who is very accommodating and knowledgeable about the parks and wineries. I walked down to the bay and out to the ocean, but you can't see the ocean from the inn. My room was large, sunny and warm. I would stay again. It's a good value.

Pretty basic, not really a B&B or hotel. Just a room without really a view. Bed was soft, room was warm. Not really near anything except a funky little coffee shop. The restaurant that was next door wasn't open when we were there.
Bodega Bay is an alright daytime spot but you may want to stay in Santa Rosa if you're looking to stay out past 9pm.

I accidentally made reservations at this place when I thought I was booking a room at the Tides.
There should have been a warning going off in my head when they said there were no views of the ocean from any of the rooms. I thought they meant that none of the rooms available had a view of the ocean. After hearing no ocean view, I asked for a room that would be perfect for a little romantic getaway for my wife and me. Of course it is difficult to know what another person deems as nice or romantic, but the woman said she had just the perfect room for us. Disappointment is not the word. $230.00 got us a room with a common deck, walls that were paper thin, a musty smell and bug bites the next morning.
The woman making our reservation said that the place didn't have an ocean view, but what she didn't say is that our room wouldn't have a view at all. Seriously? You go to Bodega Bay and pay $230.00 for a room that has a tiny bathroom window up high, a moldy fogged-up skylight and another little window that gives you the view of a shop with parking lot.
There isn't even coffee to greet you in the morning. There is a community kitchen where you can prepare your own meal from things you bring there. We were told not to touch any of the food in the fridge with other people's names on it. Seriously?
It was like I was in college again with roommates, except this time we were paying more for one night than I paid all month. What was weird is that after our stay, we wondered if anyone else had a similar experience. When we looked at other reviews it appears that this facility did include a breakfast with the room, the cost was $80 in 2009 and those guests weren't very thrilled with the place either.
The room was so stuffy that I went down and asked for a portable fan to bring some air in through our little window. The lady at the desk thought that it was odd how many people had asked that same question. The answer was no they didn't have any fans. The only way to get air into the room was to leave the door open to the common lobby area. She told us that she thought you could turn on the fan on the little wall heater, but she was wrong and that was ridiculous. Artsy, quaint, rustic, folksy, unique are all great characteristics, but not when you're paying $230.00 a night for a stuffy, moldy, buggy room with a little window capturing the beauty of a power pole and the back door of a store. Yeah, that is what we would come to Bodega Bay for.
$230.00!!!!! C'mom, you have to be joking...Community kitchen and bug bites to boot!!!

Room Tip: The best room at this place is either at the Bodega Lodge or the Inn at the Tides.

Obviously this guest had an awful experience. We certainly would have appreciated a heads up if there were things biting him through the night. In fact, we’re a little surprised he didn’t mention that or any serious complaint when he suddenly checked out a day early.
If he wanted to hang in his room for the entirety of his Bodega Bay trip, maybe the other places are better suited to him. Maybe not.
Anywhere else, you’ll pay extra for the fruit, juice, milk, coffee, popcorn, oatmeal, jam butter, cream cheese, bread, nutella, cereal, peanut butter, and DVD movies that are available free 24 hours a day in the common room. Everything in there is free; wine glasses, openers, tea kettles, microwave, toaster, books, magazines, cards, board games, you get the idea. Yes guests put their own food into the fridge– seriously!
All our rooms have fans in them, and all have windows that open (including the two this reviewer located in his room (good thing he went to college, seriously!)). No, there is no air-conditioning, as we have the pacific ocean as our air conditioner, it’s only 300 yards away.
Look, we’re not the tides or the lodge-- they have more to offer, and cost more; and they have about 90 more guests a day than us. If that’s what you expected then stay there, don’t spare our feelings only to hold us to their standard later. We will never be those types of places.
As far as BUGS in the room, congratulations! You have identified the most potent insult possible in any lodging review. But no mention of it when you’re modifying your reservation to check out early? Did you forget what happened? Was it not that big a deal just then?
I mean you’ve got a full chest of medals for trip advisor; I’d think you’d know the difference.

We're celebrating our 10 year anniversary and decided to head to Bodega Bay. No reservations, no plans, because that's how we roll. The first two hotels we stopped at were booked (often the consequence of rolling the way we do), but the Bodega Bay Inn had one room left. They even took $30 off. It was still $190 for the night, but I think that's standard for this area, this time of year. The room was great. Bed was comfortable. We enjoyed it very much.
