Inn at the Tides
Ranked #3 of 5 Hotels in Bodega Bay
Reviewed April 11, 2007

We didn't get a chance to find out what the Inn at the Tides was
really like because we didn't get the room we reserved, or the
service we requested. Their website has a box labelled "Guest
Requests", which we filled out with a request for a rollaway bed,
and disabled accomodations. Nothing new or different, and certainly nothing outrageous or impossible to grant. In fact, we have had no trouble in any other hotel, inn, or guest cottage with these simple requests in the past. However, upon checking in, the Innkeeper gave me a receipt for our prepaid reservation, and it did not mention either guest request. So, I inquired if they were really ready for us. I was rudely informed that "This inn does not provide rollaways, and our disabled suite is already occupied." When I asked why this was not mentioned in my emailed confirmation, I was coldly told that
"We don't DO that." He flatly refused to give us an additional room for our third person, so I requested a full refund. After a prolonged
discussion, I was given verbal notice that ..."We have not charged your card as yet, so you are free to leave." So, we did.

We found accomodation elsewhere, at a much friendlier inn, with much less hassle, and much better views, at a lesser cost, too. The Inn at the Tides will never see us in their lobby, again. I would not recommend it to anyone, in spite of the good location, and even better reputation they advertise.

If you don't have a problem with stumbling over garbage and cleaning supplies, including vaccuum cleaners, every time you enter or leave your hotel room, you wont have a problem with this place.

If you don't have a problem changing the channel with a child in the room and seeing porn on the television, you wont have a problem at this place.

If you don't mind hotel cleaning personell banging on your door at 9:30 and 10:30am after you explicitly asked the front desk to halt room cleaning until after noon, you should be ok.

The walls are thin and every single sound of every voice in every room (3) around you can be heard into the wee hours of the morning. Every banging noise the cleaning crew makes getting their supplies out of the closet that is directly outside of your door can be heard starting at 8:00 in the morning.

The service of the front desk is minimal and the concern for your comfort is non existent. What ever you do, do not eat across the street at the Tides. The food and service are terrible. The restaurant in the lobby, Bayview, is not too bad but high priced and they do not want children in there and disuade it.

My 13 year old daughter and I came here for 3 nights on the suggestion of an older couple we had met in Mendocino at the beginning of our 12 day trip to the Norther Coast and it was the most disappointing. If the staff cared about service at all it might make up for the other problems. The room was clean, for the most part, and the view from the room was nice. All in all, as service is the more important thing to me, I would not stay here again.

Where to begin...the bottle of champagne that i requested be in the room upon arrival was not there, and i was still charged full price for it....the restaurant associated with the hotel (across the street) was SO overpriced, but looked like a Denny's diner...they charged $3.50 for bread for the table...but the view was great....for breakfast the corned beef hash was straight out of a can, though i specifically asked if it wsa hommade....the pool was nice....and that might be the only positive thing i have to say about this place

We stayed here in August due to a wedding we were attending across the street. I found the property overall to be average. We had a king room, lower floor. The room was very large, including the bathroom and the fireplace was a nice touch. Found the towels to be kind of old, they need to replace them. Overall, rooms could stand to be updated. We could hear every single word of what our neighbors were saying (we had a room that adjoined to the next one, if one so chooses), but THANKFULLY, they were rarely there so it wasn't an issue. Had they spent a lot of time in there, it would have been a nightmare. The in-room robes were a nice touch. Again, overall average experience. Not worth the $300/price whatsoever.

We were looking for one last "Summer Hurrah" before the kids returned to school and The Inn at the Tides exceeded our expectations! We arrived at the hotel early and were greeted by the Front Desk with an offer to hold our luggage until our room was available and to enjoy a swim in the beautiful pool & spa while we waited. Just what our family needed after our drive. After swimming, we were able to get right into our room. The first room we were given was just what we had reserved, a second floor room with vaulted ceilings. However, we noticed that the lower floor rooms had a nice size patio just outside the room. We checked with the front desk and they happily arranged for us to change rooms. This worked great for our family allowing our kids to enjoy the room and "Mom & Dad" to enjoy the outdoor patio watching deer, the sunsets and the full moon.

We enjoyed the Continental Breakfast provided in The Tides Restaurant, located across the street. Food my children actually enjoyed; croissants, muffins, oatmeal and fresh fruit... not to mention hot chocolate with whip cream!

We have been coming to Bodega Bay for many years and have stayed at other spas but The Inn at the Tides was the most welcoming and accommodating for our family needs. and you couldn't beat the price we found on their web page!

We had such a great time, we have already made reservations to return in Septebmer!

Our friends invited us to join them at the Inn at the Tides for the weekend. The front desk staff was grumpy. We arrived 30 minutes before check-in time; even though we did not object to waiting and in fact had counted on an outing before we got into our room, we were treated as though we were being difficult ("Now, if we just show a little patience..." in response to my query about what time we should return--in fact, I was trying to be nice and indicate that if extra time was needed to get in, it was ok!). When we did get our keys, it took 2 return trips to the front desk--which was not close to our room--to get keys that worked! Apologies *not* included. The pool was *almost* wonderful, but the very dirty tile was a big turn-off. When I can see dirt, I worry about the dirt I can't see! The room was adequate, but nothing special, and for $300 I expect special! Not a dying plant on the table...Overall, a Big Clean is needed. Our bathroom had grotty grout and a rusty tissue holder. Do not waste your money--in this lovely location, a much better value can be found.
