“Where the locals go”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 4, 2014

Stopped in off the highway on a road trip. It was a Sunday so it was hoppin. This is a blast from the past. The old time swivel seats at the counter, the lime green and flowered wallpaper in the bathroom, the booths with duct tape on the seats all original. This place needs lots of work but this place has character and all the locals come in here. The dining room area is small and they have booths along the window. The breakfast was pretty generic but good, it was what we needed to keep us going on the road. The omelet was ok the French toast was ok, was interesting to get a bowl of shaved cheese. Being a coffee shop it was tough getting coffee refills. They needed more staff and someone walking around with coffee all the time. The staff they had worked their tails off and very friendly.

“Good Coffee Shop”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 11, 2014

This place has been in business for at least 50 years that we know of. It is a good place to stop in for a good breakfast. large portions at a reasonable price; simple & honest food. Service is slower than Mickey-D's, but friendlier. The only complaint is that the coffee is a little weak.

The restaurant has been in several movies & commercials over the years due to it's unique architecture, which is reason enough to stop in

“Good value”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 10, 2014

Had dinner at the restaurant one evening. The dining area is small and intimate. The food was good and a good value for the price. The menu is limited but adequate . The staff was courteous and professional.

“Lunch”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 21, 2014 via mobile

The worst tuna melt sandwich we have ever had in a restaurant. We ordered it on Good Friday. We both had the same order.
The tuna was of poor quality. It barely was enough to cover one piece of bread, which was moist and awful. The cheese was poor quality.
My wife had the fries which were ok.

“Our usual stop between Phoenix and Fountain Valley”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 10, 2014

Well, we don't stop here for the decor, let's get that out of the way. This place is old and dated and reminds me a lot of what a Route 66 50's style cafe might look like if it hadn't been maintained in all that time. Some TLC is definitely in order, The entrance hasn't been cleaned or repaired in decades. I'd expect to see a place like this in the middle of nowhere (Radiator Springs perhaps?) but when you have a choice of places to eat In Blythe, it seems foolish not to at least try to attract customers by improving their presentation. But don't let the appearance put you off from eating here. We always enjoy our food, usually an omelette of some description, toast, muffin, hash browns etc, the usual diner fair. Prices are reasonable, no more, no less than other places. There is a very nice tall waitress who is always pleasant to us on our visits, we don't chat too much but she makes us feel welcome and greets us with a smile and looks after our table well. She's a real asset to the Courtesy Coffee Shop. As for the bathrooms; well they're basic, outdated and chipped, but they're clean and functional and I've never felt the need to comment to the proprietor. I'd rather stop here that at the nearby Starbucks which has no character, artificial smiles and overpriced coffee. I'd recommend visiting. It's a slice of Americana that is quickly disappearing. These sorts of rest stops will soon be just a photo and by line in a history book or in a B&W picture hanging on the wall of a conglomerates burger place to provide the "atmosphere". Go see the real deal right here, Experience it while you can.
