Best Western Bishop Lodge
Ranked #2 of 20 Hotels in Bishop

As we like Best Western hotels, generally, we stopped at this one. The room was nice and
the desk clerk was also. The lady in charge of the breakfast room spoke no English at all.
Checking the internet, I found comparable hotels for less money, but we chose to stay here
anyway because of their $50. stay three separate time promotion. Turns out our first two
stays in Tucson didn't count. Rooms were nice, clean, and breakfast choices were quite
adequate. The laundromat and soap for sale at the desk was much appreciated.

Room Tip: There is no restaurant on sight, but there is are several in the close area. We chose a room closer...

On my drive to Reno, NV, I stopped for the night in Bishop. The hotel was a welcoming and comfortable place to spend the night. Warmly greeted by the manager at check in, he told me a bit about the hotel and Bishop. He was warm and friendly.

The ground floor room was clean and nicely appointed, and included a small microwave and refrigerator. The bed was comfortable. Bathroom was functional and clean. No distracting noise was heard from adjoining rooms.

The Best Western Plus is conveniently located at the north end of Bishop, and within walking distance to many dining and enterininment spots in Bishop. It should be on your list of places to stay when visiting the Eastern Sierra.

Room Tip: Walking distance to most restaurants on the Bishop "strip."

On a drive from Sparks, Nevada, to Claremont, Calif., we made a planned stop at this motel. Nice. Clean. Good breakfast with eggs, waffles, sausages, bagels, etc., etc. Bishop is a good stop along the eastern Sierra Nevada for fishing, hiking, etc. Altogether, you can't go wrong with a visit to Bishop with a stay in this Best Western.

Room Tip: I can't give you a tip about choosing a good room, but I can suggest that you read the review by...

Ended up booking a last minute room here when travelling through Bishop en route to Yosemite. However we discovered that as the Tioga Pass was closed (does not open until May time) we would have to go another route to Yosemite which took an extra 250 miles on our journey which we did thoroughly enjoy though. Receptionist was very helpful on enquiring about room rates when we were calling into all local hotels which is why we ended up booking this. Room clean, comfy bed, plenty of eating places locally and we ended up going to the local cinema on the evening which was lovely as it was a proper old fashioned cinema. Breakfast had plenty to choose from. Loved this one road in one road out town. Loads of character and the views and surrounding scenery was memorable

This place is typical of most BW hotels we have stayed in. The facility is older but is kept up to a decent condition level. The room was clean but on closer look you can see many details that are ignored, like tile grout, shower head, dirty carpet and other things that need some attention. That said, the room was usable just not perfect but for one night it was OK.

The staff was friendly enough, the breakfast was average, the pool (don't know it was closed). Parking was good as the spaces were very wide (unusual) so you didn't have to be concerned about door dings and such if you have a nice vehicle. Location was good too.

The wi-fi worked at night but in the morning it was dead so if you need to do some internet stuff, do it at night. One other thing I can mention is the place is Spanish style so there are large arches in front of the units which pretty much block out the light, we had to use all the lights during the afternoon because the room was rather dark. Also the bathroom lighting was bad and it was hard to see to shave.

The TV was a flat screen with average number of channels. The fridge and microwave worked alright but there was no ac plug on or under the desk in our room so setting up the laptop was cumbersome. The bed was too hard for us though that is a personal thing as someone else will think it was perfect.

Pros: parking, breakfast, location and staff.

Cons: lighting, carpet, wi-fi, bed comfort.

The next time we come to Bishop we will probably try another place but in a pinch it would do.

I was very impressed with the outstanding customer service and individual attention provided by the management and staff of the Bishop Holiday Spa Lodge. A mention of a simple concern brought immediate contact by the manager to resolve any problems.

The breakfast was very good. I was impressed that the usual mircowaved eggs were replaced with fresh scrambled eggs. The variety and quality of the items offered was excellent as was the personal service of the waitstaff.

We return to this hotel every time we visit Bishop.

Good location right on the main highway through town. The rooms were average size, clean and well appointed. DO NOT STAY ON THE FIRST FLOOR. The noise from use of bathroom and people moving around from above was horrible. The morning "Full breakfast", included in the room cost, was marginal. Overall, would try someplace else another time.

Room Tip: 2nd floor only!
