“great bakery”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 1, 2013

Really impressed with the variety and quality of goods. Purchased several items with no complaints. The staff were really friendly and took the time to answer questions. It was busy, but not too crowded - it was snowing like crazy!!

This is a must stop when traveling through Bishop, they have the best bakery this side of the Sierra mountains.

“Fantastic Dining in Old World Bakery Store”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 26, 2013

This will be my regular stop when driving from Reno to LA. Had a wonderful lunch and purchased several fresh bakery goods. This place is one good reason to stop in Bishop, CA.

“Screw the Diet!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 25, 2013

This place smells of sweetness two blocks away. Don't be countin' calories when you walk through the Entrance to Schat's. "Fuggeettaabboouuttiitt! Pastries, Sandwiches, & Pies to die for, and don't forget to take home a loaf of their "Original Sheepherder Bread"....UMMMMMM GOOD!

“Sorry, but the one in Mammoth is better”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 23, 2013

I remember 20 years ago when I first came here and could think only about going back and having the same great experience. Everything was just awesome. I don't really think that is true now. I got a turkey sandwich and it was ok. Big chunks of turkey between two dry pieces of bread. The lettuce was terrible and the sprouts tasted weird. Daughter had the Peanut Butter and jelly. That was actually better than mine. Better half got slices of turkey on hers. Guess they didn't like me. They also gave us FREE cookies. Chocolate chip. Awful! I guess Eric left this place long ago. Maybe he went to Mammoth. I forgot to review it but the place in Mammoth is really much better than the one in Bishop. Kind of shows you what happens when you try to branch out.
