We stayed one night at Chalfant house, and overall it was a nice experience. The house itself is beautiful with lots of charm. The room we got was also nice, with a comfortable large bed.
The highlight was definitely the breakfast! We first got a bowl of fruit, which was then followed by a plate with egg, toast, and bacon. All very tasty!
The bathroom was ok, no faults but quite basic and not very charming. The flushing system on the toilet had some practical problems and you often had to flush several times to make it work. We also found a very large cockroach in the bathtub. We don’t know if that is common in the area, but still it was not very nice.
There was also some confusion regarding our reservation (owner stating that she had sent us an additional e-mail asking for our credit card number to guarantee the room, which we never received). The consequence was that we actually did not have a reservation upon arrival, however this was eventually sorted out and fortunately there were free rooms.
All in all the most interesting things about this place was the good breakfast and the charming style of the house itself. If these two things are not important to you, you might be able to find better value for money elsewhere.
