I stayed two nights at Chalfant House and found it to be one of the best B & B experiences I've had. The facility is very clean and located within easy walking distance of downtown Bishop. It is also quiet in spite of being close to the action. Patty is extremely friendly, easy to talk to, knows the locale, and gives you plenty of space if that's what you want. The breakfasts were creative and delicious both times. And with all this, the price was very reasonable. I will definitely come again and recommend Chalfant House to others.

We stayed in the Chalfant House B&B in Bishop a couple of weeks ago for 1 night during our recent trip to California.
The building is a mix of wood, and natural stone, and we were lodged in the "Pleasant Room" very clean and comfortable, with a spotless bathroom. The room also had a private patio area, leading towards the car park.
The staff were very nice, there when you needed them, but unobtrusive otherwise.
After a great nights sleep, we had a delicious breakfast of french toast, bacon, and coffee, before paying our bill, and heading off towards Yosemite national park, and beyond.
I don't know if we'll be back in that neck of the woods again, but if we are we will certainly book back into the Chalfant House.
Thanks Patty.

We have been at the Chalfant House on 04/09/08.
This is a very nice and cosy house and we enjoyed the room and the excellent breakfast as well as the contact with Lisa.

I travel frequently for work and I stay at the Chalfant House every time I stop in Bishop (which is several times a year). Patty, the proprietor, is a wonderful lady with a great staff who are genuinely interested in ensuring your stay is comfortable and enjoyable. She and her staff are always happy to tell you some great places to visit (if you have time) and know where the locals hang out (if you enjoy that kind of experience).

As I mentioned, I travel frequently for work and I have yet to find any place with the character and genuinely friendly staff as you'll find here. This place is an undiscovered gem.

Tell Patty "Joe" the Health Department guy, sent you ;-) (no, I don't get any kickback).

We stayed for one night in Chalfant House on our way to Yosmite National Park. We were greeted by a very friendly lady who was very happy to recommended place to go while staying in Bishop. Chalfant House was beautifully decorated, with many lovely pieces of furniture like the four poster bed in our room. On the morning of our departure we were greeted by another lovely lady , who sereved us alovely homemade breakfast. We would highly recommend Chalfant House and we are only sorry that are stay wasn't longer.

We decided to break up a trip to Lake Tahoe from Los Angeles with a stopover in Bishop on April 25, 2006. We could find only two B&B's --- one was in a rather ordinary ranch-style house. The other was the utterly charming and delightful Chalfant House, a rambling Victorian about 100 years old (don't worry: the bathrooms have first-rate plumbing). It's located in the center of town, walking distance to all restaurants and the fabulous Mountain Light Gallery, the home of Galen Rowell's stunning photography, but off the main road by a block or so. If you love "old-timey" B&B's, this is the place. The wood floors squeak softly, the moldings are authentic, and every room is decorated in period furniture --- not kitsch, but generally nifty, old, interesting articles. Take a peak at their website and "tour" the place: (-)chalfanthouse(-) Patti, the owner/host/cook, is delightful and full of information about Bishop, the house, local luminaries, etc. She's also a first-rate cook, and her full, yummy breakfasts are served in a sunny dining room at beautiful tables. TV's are available only in the two suites, but there is one in the downstairs parlor, sharing space with the wood-burning Franklin stove. We preferred to keep it off and read, and the quiet and your imagination will take you back a century. Full kudos to Patty for a genuinely "classic" B&B experience! We will definitely return.
