Had a terrible time in Death Valley with my car getting stuck. The hospitality at the Bristlecone was just what I needed. Totally recommended!

It was a decent bed for the night. We had been camping in the Big Pine Creek Campground, and decided after a very long day hike to pack up and get a hot shower and comfortable bed instead of sleeping outdoors on the ground again. We ended up here because it was cheap, and had vacancy. I'd guess that 95% of the people who stay here are just passing through and simply needed a place to crash for the night.

The rooms are basic, but clean. We had an updated room, so it was fairly clean and new-looking. It had a wall AC unit, flat screen TV, microwave, and fridge, so all the accesssories you'd probably want for a night. The bed was firm, but I like that. You can walk outside and you are right behind the gas station / quick mart, so that's convenient. But then again, it created a lot of foot and car traffic near the room. Kind of a weird set up in that sense, to share a lot with a gas station, but again, it was not a problem for us.

In the end, the room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. The room we had was recently renovated, which made it better. Overall, it's an OK place to stay for a night, but nothing more.

Vacationing with my wife, we just wanted a reasonably priced room in a quiet setting. The Bristlecone provided that for us.
The grounds and rooms are very clean, quiet, and the Manager was friendly, and helpful. The rooms are basic, but included a refrigerator, coffee maker, WiFi, and cable.
There is a store, gas station, and great restaurant on the property!
If you're looking for the Ritz, than you're being unfair. Someone commented on the restroom feeling like an, "Outhouse." I'm not sure what they are looking for, but, our restroom was bit, had plenty of hot water, great water pressure.
You won't find a better bargain. Very pleasant stay, and we will return again!

We were supposed to stay two nights at the Bristlecone Motel the weekend of March 18-20. Unfortunately a wildfire broke out and was headed towards the motel and we were evacuated the first night of our stay. Luckily for the motel the fire changed directions and the motel was spared. We ended up only staying one night.

The Bristlecone is a small roadside motel in Big Pine CA. I think it caters mostly to road weary travelers, hunters, fishermen, and the Cal-trans crews that work that area.

It's a no frills motel. Nothing fancy here.

This was my second stay at the Bristlecone (see previous review).

The room (room 12) was pretty basic. Beds (three) and small bathroom with a shower and a small "kitchen" area with a sink, coffee maker ,microwave and mini fridge.

This little motel serves it's purpose. A clean, secure place to spend the night.

There is a gas station with a small general store right next to the motel. There is also a laundromat on the other side of the motel. A small local resturant is within walking distance.

This is our motel of choice when spending the weekend in the Big Piine area.

Overnighted here prior to heading into Death Valley National Park. The rooms are NOT new but the beds are very comfortable and clean. It is an old roadside motel and if you set your expectations too high you will be disappointed. We were happy to find a clean and comfortable place with a reasonable rate. We found it. The biggest downside and no reflection on the property itself is the local fire department. It is a volunteer force and whenever an emergency requires the fire department the air raid signal sounds twice to call the force in. It is mounted very close tot he motel. We were awakened at 12:00 midnight and 5:30 am and didn't know what was going on. scared the hell out of use but we were informed at the local diner that it's "just who we do it here" so who were we to complain.

Sure there are 'few' motels in this area, but the motel is a hodge-podge of materials. The showers were all connected, so it was a fight of scalding and freezing water with the other tenants. Circuit breakers were literally hanging on the walls. Was told there was a pool. There was. A few years back that is. Owners freindly, but not always in the office. If it were $45, I'd not have written this review. Oh yeah, the ice machine is in the little grocery store where you fill your sodas next to the potato chips.

I tagged along on a fishing trip with my father and son. My father booked the room at Bristlecone Inn. He and his fishing/hunting buddies stay here a lot.

We had a large room (#23) with three beds and a kitchenette. The kitchen had a fridge and coffeemaker. Also some plates and silverware.

The room had a rather primative/cabin feel to it..

The bathroom felt a bit like an outhouse. The shower was small and the water pressure was not so great. The inn provided a small bar of soap but no shampoo. The towels left a lot to be desired. They were child sized, thin, and a bit rough.

The bathroom would not have past a white glove test but it was clean enough.

There were no bugs or critters in the room.

This is a decent roadside inn. Obviously not the Ritz but it serves it's purpose well. This is a fine place for a guys weekend out hunting or fishing. Ladies might find less appealing but it sure beats sleeping in a tent!

The beds were fine. Comfortable enough. I didn't wake up all stiff and sore like I have at other motels.

The inn provides free WiFi but the service was slow and spotty. A few times the internet service dropped.

The inn provides free parking but it fills up quickly.
