“Our first experience at a US Diner”
Reviewed March 31, 2013

How good was this. Had a huge breakfast for the 6of us. Endless coffee, piles of toast ( already buttered as seems the norm) bacon always overlooked to my way of thinking but enjoyed by all and no different to everywhere else in US so far. Kids enjoyed describing how their eggs were to be cooked. Easy over etc. not usually described this way in Aus. A true diner feeling that we had all only seen on the movies.Booth, service at counter, etc etc. We enjoyed it and it was very cheap.

“One of the worst I have ever visited”
Reviewed October 15, 2012

We were drawn to this one by the fact that there always seemed to be plenty of vehicles outside -usually a sign of decent food - not in this case! Also, everything in nearby Independence (where we were that day) was closed on a Tuesday and we were hungry. Sure it was busy, so busy that the poor single waitress (she did her best) was overwhelmed which meant lousy service to start with. My 'homemade' chili I think came straight out of a can and was overdosed with oregano - could not finish it. Our friend's Fish and Chips looked like Van de Kamp's, nothing wrong with Van de Kamp's, but you expect something more individual in a restaurant. Asked about the Mac 'n' Cheese - turns out it is Kraft's straight out of the box. At least my wife got a good hot dog, but no relish and only a tiny amount of onions to go with it. I noticed that the place was up for sale, maybe the owner is only winging it until he gets a buyer.

“Very good option for Big Pine”
Reviewed August 24, 2012

We had breakfast at the Country Kitchen restaurant after a one-night stay in Big Pine. The food was very good diner fare, the waitress was fast and attentive. The surroundings were clean and we regretted not having had dinner there the previous night.
