Attraction details
Owner description: Year round family recreation area. The Alpine Slide attraction is California's only authentic bobsled ride. Take a scenic chairlift ride to the top, then hop on a specially designed sled and control your own speed down a 1/4 mile long track. In the summer enjoy our refreshing double Water Slide and in the winter tube on our Snow Play hill with Magic Carpet uphill lift. We also offer Go-Karts and an 18 hole miniature golf course. Our newly renovated building has plenty of indoor seating and an expanded snack bar. An outdoor patio, Water Slide deck and many grass areas allow for plenty of relaxing. Parents pay only if you play!

“would never go back”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 29, 2010

Poorly staffed by workers who obviously didn't want to be there. Young fellow who was suppose to be monitoring the line into the magic belt SAW people cutting in to the front of the line and all he can say was "single file please". We even said "you should really make sure people don't cut in line--our kids have been waiting 15minutes to get to the front, it's really not fair"! and he just gives a quick smirk. No one is watching from the top either--people just start sliding down whenever they want--so very unsafe for young children to go alone.

It was really crowded when we went so despite having four hours to go on the tubing, only got to ride it 4 times because of the long wait. Paid $25 for the unlimited tubing rides. The Luge ride was fun but waited almost 2 hours just for it. 5tickets for 18$ or 4$ each ride.

Maybe it was just the mere fact that it was super crowded the day we went, so there was more of a chance for rude and obnoxious teenagers to be present (roaming around without parents), but having groups like these around a "family oriented place" really made the entire expensive experience unbearable--especially when the people who are suppose to enforce sanity and order don't really care about their job. Too bad. Please don't waste your money and time. I saw alot of people park at little remote areas, brought their own sliders and had tons of fun for free, without having to deal with unlawful teenagers and ridiculous lines.

“We had a great time! Even went back the next day for more!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 11, 2010

We visited this past Sat and bought the 5-ticket pack for $18 for our family of 4 to do the luge slide (I wasn't even aware that there were other actviities offered until I read about them here). Hmm. They accept cash only and kids under 6yrs and 48 inches ride free with paying adult. Single tickets are $4. With the ticket, you wait in line for the ski-lift; the sleds are already at the top. Maybe due to the time of year, but the lines weren't long at all; there were only a handful of people.

At the top of the hill, the views are breathtaking. The sleds are basically gravity propelled. You work them by pushing forward on the lever for full speed. In neutral position, the sled has 'drag' to it and by pulling back, you activate the brakes. They work very well, but do keep in mind that you go as fast or as slow as you want to go. I was careful to slow a bit around the turns. Some who weren't as careful (my husband), have the potential to wipe out or scrape the edge, but your speed is up to you!

It was a blast and we ended up going back a second day and buying 2 more 5 packs of tickets so we could experience it again! Tip: If you want to go fast, the left line is for faster riders; it's the same course, but it's entirely possible to get stuck behind a slow-poke. Be sure and allow for plenty of space between you and the rider ahead if they're of the slower, more cautious persuasion. ;-)

“Had a blast!”

This is a must do if your'e in the Big Bear area in the summer months. Be sure to purchase the multi-ride package cuz you will want to go down the hill more than once-guaranteed! Both my 11 yr old son & myself had such a good time that we went back the next day. Also, its easy to find (right off the highway) & parking is ample & free. They also have mini-golf, go-carts, a snack bar & bathrooms.

“Rip Off Report”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 18, 2010

I hate this place. I have been there once. It cost us $125 for our family of 5 and that does not even count the food or beverages. Perhaps my husband and I could have sat out but there is no place to sit and see that our children are safe. There is a patio but it is freezing and when you pay $25 a ticket you want to stay long enough to justify the cost. They justify the price by comparing themselves to the ski resorts who have miles of trails, jumps, jibs, pipes, a nice lodge, live music and fun atmosphere. I wish people wouldn't fall for this absolute rip-off that allows them to continue charging such an absurd price. I guess sledding on big runs without trees is just for the rich or the single. Please stop going there and paying those exorbitant prices just so some rich guy can make money off the backs of families and teenagers who will work for minimum wage.
