Home style foods. Great family atmoshere and a value. The line out front everyday tells the tale. Be ready for the owner to call you out for humor and fun while you eat

This was a nice place to have breakfast. Very interesting if you don't mind waiting. You put your name on a list and wait because it is very small. When you are waiting for your breakfast you can read all the stickers on the walls.

My kids loved the Grizzly platter and the side of corned beef hash. My french toast was tasty, but I find a lot of places, and this one also don't soak the bread long enough to get the custardy middle I like in the french toast. The bread inside was dry,

You should go here at least one.

If you want a good breakfast, go where the locals gather. Hours are 6am to 2pm.

If you are an early riser go share a few laughs with the locals and catch up on Big Bear news. Don't be surprised when the locals get their own refills and go around the room to refill everyone's cup (by the end of our stay we helped make coffee).

It is a small cafe, by mid morning there is a long waiting line.

Do not go unless you are hungry (as a bear) the portions are bear size and delicious.
Great fun watching the chef prepare the breakfasts.
The short stack will feed at least two people so be prepared and enjoy.
The french toast was very tasty, the bacon really really good, egg sandwich scrumpious.
No low fat or low cholesterol in this place, just great taste and great fun.

Go walk off the calories on the trails and come back the next day to refuel.

We went on a Saturday morning about 8 a.m. and were able to sit down immediately at the last table available. It's a small place, and you sit very close to your neighbor. The menu doesn't give a clue as to how big the portions are. My husband got "Hog Boy" which was 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, 2 bacon, which doesn't sound like a huge amount, but the pancakes came out on an oval platter and they hung over the edge on all sides. The eggs and bacon came out on a small bread plate in comparison. I got the "Blob". It was biscuits and gravy with 2 eggs, cheese and bacon on top. It came on a platter, too. Bacon is the thick sliced kind. Service was pretty quick. Parking is the only downside, but there are several other business around that are not open that early, so we parked there. Only open for breakfast and lunch.

The Grizzly Manor Cafe is one of those funky little places catering to the locals as well as tourists in the know. They only have about 10-12 tables and a short counter. The place is "decorated" with signs, cards and posters all over the walls, etc. The staff is very friendly and the dialogue between them and the customers is spirited and fun. Their breakfasts are famous in the area and mine was no exception. I had eggs, bacon, hash browns and pancakes. The pancakes are huge and overlap a full-size dinner plate. Not being able to finish mine, I brought one pancake home for my wife. After breakfast at the Grizzly Manor, lunch may not be required. All in all it's fun place with good food and service and the prices are certainly reasonable.
