On the north shore, this center has both maps, museum, guided tours, gift shop and trail heads right from this location. There will be brochures on all big bear activities plus rangers available. Plenty of parking and a giant bear out front to take some pictures with.

We attended the center for its anniversary celebration. Talked to many people about the history, plants and animals of the region. Took a very enjoyable nature walk, learned about the trees, flowers, birds, and local animals. Learned about Baldwin Lake, a wildflower refuge, the fire towers you can visit and some history of Big Bear Lake.

Excellent info on surrounding wildlife and terrain! We were able to feel the real pelts of animals, what a treat!
