“Great Stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 13, 2012

I want to say that my husband and I just stayed at the Honey Bear Lodge over the 4th of July 2012. Although we have stayed there many times since the 1990s, it is now under new ownership and we found them to be the most personable managers we ever encountered.
Our room was already completely renovated (everything brand new including the mattresses) and had a full kitchenette.
To help celebrate, the owners set up a BBQ in the common area and hired a wonderful band. The view of the fireworks was spectacular.
Our stay was very enjoyable and we look forward to staying there again in October.

We came to Big Bear at the last minute and found this place. A view of the lake. Amazingly friendly people at the front desk, thanks Marcos. We have the loft room and love it. There is toom for I think 5 people. We will definitely stay again.

Room Tip: The loft is great. You can sit on your own balcony & enjoy the beauty of of Big Bear.

Excellent stay for a reasonably priced room. We were up visiting a friend and needed a place to stay over the weekend. Found the lodge and loved it. Very fair price, spacious, comfortable room, even had a wood burning stove. It's a great location, just a block or two from the village. Property has several BBQs for use under the trees, along with a fire pit and tables. The second floor balcony has a table and chairs, which were perfect for enjoying an early morning view of the lake while enjoying my coffee.

The guy in the office said he's the owner, and has only had it 3 months, and has been putting in a lot of improvements.

My daughter and I decided at the last minute to go up to Big Bear for the night. Found this place and immediately chose it because of the great price, dog friendly (our dog's first vacation :-) and it was so close to the village. I was very happy with the friendliness of the staff and manager. We had room 18 which was perfect for us and it even had a microwave, fridge and coffee maker. Loved the grounds with the playground and plenty of dog walking area. We will definitely be back! Thank you!! Kaaren from Yucaipa

Traveled with 3 teenagers - got room #14.
Pros: large room with full kitchen, comfortable beds, very clean, separate vanity area, got a good deal from the manager Marcos, and spa was awesome after the ski trip.
Cons: poor Internet connection, no daily cleaning service, small towels, no hairdryer, and thin walls (the first night I couldn't sleep at all because you could hear the neighbors next door talking and laughing past midnight. But I went and asked them nicely to lower their voice and it was fine afterward).

Despite the cons above, this was so far the best place I have stayed in Big Bear. It is close to the village and yet off to the side so it is very quiet. The interior is outdated, nothing fancy but it is very spacious. I am taking a star away due to poor Internet connection, no daily cleaning service to replenished the towels or emptied the trash, and no hairdryers. But I will stay in this place again and definitely recommend this place to all of you out there who wants a quiet and large clean room.

Had a great stay at the Honey Bear Lodge over the weekend. We found that the lodge is a cozy place to stay. We had the loft room and it could sleep up to 6 people very comfortably with room to spare. It has a queen and a futon bed down stairs and a queen bed upstairs in the loft. We also found that the lodge is located in perfect area which is only two blocks from the Village and about two miles or less from the ski slopes. Also Big Bear Blvd is just about two block away which is great for easy access for driving or walking. At the lodge there is also a playground for kids with a swing set and a slide to keep the kids busy. They also have a fire pit outside and picnic tables for great family time, which could be used when the weather is a little warmer out. The owner seems to make sure to greet all the guest as they check in or out. Their employees are also very friendly and very helpful with information on things to see and do while you are there for your stay. We look forward to coming back for another stay at the Honey Bear Lodge and would recommend it to all our family and friends.

Made last minute reservation for President day weekend, of course, not a lot of options. Got a one room unit. Very spacious, with queen size bed, futon bed, could have easily accomodated 4 or 5. Nothing fancy, but more than adequate for a short stay to ski. The manager was super nice, gave us extra firewood and a space heater, since the unit doesn't heat well. My only complaint was that in the description it said "kitchenette" was really was only a microwave. I guess there are other units with more complements. It is two blocks from the village with all the nice shops and restaurants. Definitely recommended if you are looking a nice, no frill place to sleep.
