Needed last minute hotel and they took advantage of it big time.
Gave us a dirty old cabin for the bargin basement price of $500.00 per night. Totally changed the rates because of nothing else avaliable in town.
have you ever heard of karma.

This place is a pit. With the staff to match. We checked into our room and looked around. The shower still had a used bar of soap in it and some other toiletries. Meaning, it had not been cleaned. Then under furniture cushions there were tons of cigarette butts and other trash! The kitchen had not been cleaned either. Dirty microwave and dirty refridgerator with gross food items still in it.
I called the 'front desk' and they came and cleaned it while complaining about the 'maid' missing things.
Very trashy atmosphere.
I was literally scared to sleep under the sheets, fearing they were probably dirty.
Stay away from this place, run! YUCK!

This place was terrible. The rooms were dirty (the shower was actually scary!) and the staff was something to be desired (they made it known they were not pleased when we asked for clean towels since the rooms were not cleaned/stocked on a daily basis). The only good thing is they allow dogs and, unfortunately, the Big Bear area does not have a large selection of pet friendly hotels. I would not return to this hotel and certainly would not recommend it to anyone.

We spent the weekened at Wildwood with a group of seven other families, renting six cabins. For the past three years we've stayed at Golden Bear but were put off by the dirty cabins and less-than-friendly owners. This year we wanted something different and Wildwood was a very nice change. We found the cabins clean, the beds and linens in good condition and the towels fresh and nearly new. The manager at the front desk was extremely helpful and polite. When a bigger cabin than the one I reserved became available due to a cancellation, we were immediatly offered the bigger cabin for the price of our smaller one. The kitchens in the cabins are quite small, so don't expect to cook anything extravagant. There was, however, a large meeting room with fireplace and adjoining kitchen where we could fit our entire group (30 people) for dinner. All in all, it was a very pleasant weekend and we will return.

My girlfriend & I took our mothers here May 2002, as they have a Ladies Weekend on Monther's Day weekend. We had a great time, lots to do, staff were friendly and helpful. The food was fabulous!!!!! The entertainment is fun and lots of laughs. We'd definitely go back and recommend to others.

Unique
This place was a PIT...and I am not talking Brad Pitt! The staff was unprofessional and at times downright rude. The cabins are a dirty reck to the point of being unsafe if you have children or older folks in your party. As a seasoned world travler I will say that this place rates on the top of my list for: dirt, decay and disgust.

On the plus side: Dogs are allowed (and why not? They can't harm the place) and it is in Big Bear so, if you plan on being outside all the time and eating all your meals out (don't let the kitchen thing fool you) AND you have no problem with filth...then go for it...but pay with cash and bring your own sheets!

we thought it was great!! Where else can you get a two bedroom cabin for the whole family, at a reasonable price, and no fat deposits. Its not a luxery hotel, but a cabin, full kitchen, fireplace, and a POOL. Just like at home, no one comes in to do your dishes. Think of it as a home away from home, it is your cabin while you visit, so know you will clean up yourself, and then relax in the spa, and bbq some steaks!!! We make this our weekend escape when we can.
