Review of Big Bear Lake

Big Bear Lake
Reviewed November 25, 2012

Big Bear is a great place to visit and enjoy the mountains. Had a cabin there for years and wanted a nostalgic family Thanksgiving reunion. Reserved with BigBearvacations.com and it was a total disaster. Too much to be said here but from the check-in to check-out to the Shore Acres shambles it was very bad. Our "lodge" had multiple health and safety issues. Many, many broken or missing items. Linens had not been changed. Found old clothes in the beds, trash, etc., throughout. Dealing with the company was frustrating to say the least and there are endless upcharges. Check out reviews elsewhere about this company and you will find the same reports for many years. Wish we had.

It's a beautiful mountain resort community located 100 miles northeast of Los Angeles and surrounded by San Bernardino National Forest. It's a great place to visit four seasons of the year. But in today's post i will show you how it looks in October. http://eugenesulyma.blogspot.com/2012/10/fall-in-big-bear-city-october-2012.html

Big Bear Lake is a very popular vacation destination that offers a wide variety of activities for all age groups throughout the year.
Go hiking, boating, swimming in the warm season, leaf peeping in the fall, skiing in the winter.
It is a 3 hour drive from the L.A. area (depending on traffic), 5 hours from the Yuma, AZ area.
The countryside is spectacular: great photo opportunities for photographers, bring your binoculars if you are a birdwatcher, your easel if you love to paint or sketch, your fishing poles if you love to fish or a good book for a peaceful read outdoors. Try to catch a sunrise while you are there, and enjoy the many great restaurants like North Shore Café, Nottinghams and Basil Bistro. There are treasures to be found at the fun antique shops scattered around the lake and if a flea market is scheduled don’t miss an opportunity to find bargains. Go visit the zoo/animal rescue center, the focus is on rehabilitation of injured wild animals; the zoo will relocate near its current location in the distant future.
Big Bear is a must for nature lovers.

Loved the lake, the fishing and the fresh crisp air. My grandson got the fishing bug and we loved the zoo.
