“Beautiful day trip from Yucca Valley”
Reviewed June 3, 2012

The village is quaint and very pretty. It has that Alpine Ski resort feel along with all the great eateries, markets and character. Remember to buy a pass from the tourist/information centre ($5.00) when you arrive as you need this to park anywhere within Big Bear. The altitude can affect people differently-my husband and I had a slight headache until we started to head down. The lake is a lovely spot to go for a walk and there are lots of great hiking trails to do. It was a great day escaping the heat of the high desert.

“Beautiful Lake, Good Fishing”
Reviewed May 27, 2012

Typical mountain town, cute...Lake is beautiful especially Boulder Bay area and according to a couple of fishermen, the fishin's good...altitude is high, around 7000 feet. Takes a day or two to get used to it. I had a great time with friends there.

“Peaceful hub of activity”
Reviewed May 18, 2012

Great location for weekend breaks, fishing, biking, walking, camping, appeals to all types of holidaymakers. Lots of lake access (much of which u need to buy a day pass for) however found the boat hire very expensive, even in may during low season they wouldn't do deals for boat hire, so we didn't want to pay over $250 for 2-3hrs .

“More than a beautiful lake to go boating”
Reviewed May 17, 2012

We have a vacation home in Big Bear and visit every month. While the lake, summer, and boating seem to go hand in hand. Once the ski resorts close, I prefer to bike the paths on the North Shore of the lake, starting at the boat docking area. From there, I head East to Division, turn right pass the airport to Balboa Blvd, turn right till entering the wood bridges over Stanfield Pond, proceed to Stanfield cutoff and turn right b/n Big Bear Lake and Stanfield Pond on the right. Next turn left back to the entrance to the boat dock and proceed around the walking/bike path of about 4 miles round-trip back to the boat dock. All this biking is less than 8 miles and can easily be done in less than an hour. For those looking to be athletically challenging, they can always just bike around the lake.HAVE FUN!

“So beautiful. Fun little resort town.”

Perfect for family outings. The lake and surrounding mountains are lovely. This is a perfect weekend outing for people who live in LA. 2-3 hour drive and you are in a completely different world. We will be back!
