“A wonderful stay”
Reviewed January 5, 2014

The lobby was welcoming with a large fireplace and comfortable chairs. The property is older but our newly renovated room was contemporary and very comfortable with a beautiful view overlooking the lake. The location is great, directly across the street from the village. We walked most places for food, shopping and a movie. The staff was courteous and helpful. Our first time to Big Bear, but not our last. We look forward to our next visit to Marina Resort in Big Bear.

We stayed in an upstair hotel room for four nights.

Pros: The room is small but comfortable, excellent view. Good location, right across from the village.
Cons: Room had no air circulation, and had to open the sliding door to get fresh air. Room didn't have a microwave in the room.

My family booked the weekend at this resort hotel but unfortunately had to cancel at the last minute. Despite the stated nonrefundable cancellation policy, general manager Robert, understood and allowed the cancellation penalty free. The general manager's professionalism allowed my family to take care of our emergency and instill in us a desire to return to the resort. Thank you, Robert. We look forward to staying at your hotel.

Came upon this resort by chance late one evening after travelling from Las Vegas. Looked a lot like a basic motel, however the reception staff were polite and helpful . The room was excellent , lovely fire, big comfortable bed and a lovely balcony with a delightful view. Great location opposite shops and restaurants. Swimming pool was warm, good walking in the area, overall a nice place to stay.

Room Tip: Upstair rooms have a nicer view of the lake

We went the week before Thanksgiving to have a quiet holiday. The view was amazing. It was very close to everything. We watched the ducks and seagulls leave tracks in the snow. The unit was spacious and comfortable, the fireplace and two balconies were really nice to have. We will go back again for sure in the summer. It was great to have a full kitchen and washer/dryer. #210 has a 3D TV so that was fun.

Excellent location; right on the lake and across the street from Big Bear Village. The room felt cozy and we really enjoyed the fireplace. There wasn't really anything extra special about the property, but we thoroughly enjoyed our first anniversary weekend.

My husband and I get up to Big Bear a couple of times a year and the last few years we've been staying at the Marina Resort. Great location, nice rooms and decent pricing. The staff really isn't all that pleasant at check-in and never really have been but whatever...our interaction is usually brief. We were extremely disappointed at how we were treated over our annual Oktoberfest weekend getaway. I had booked our king beach access room as did a few other members of our family a few months before our arrival date and I showed up with the paperwork showing our confirmation for that type of room. Upon check in I was informed that we had an upstairs room and were upgraded. I asked how is that an upgrade when I specifically asked for the beach access room for the purpose of being close to our family. We like the bottom floor and its easier with all the kids being able to play and we are right there to watch them. I was told it was an upgrade because the room had a fireplace. Again, not what I asked for and we were in shorts because the weather hadn't changed yet so what do I need a fireplace for? They said there was nothing they could do that the rooms were booked even though I had confirmation showing that I had booked one of those rooms.
Had it just been my husband and I we probably would've cancelled our reservation and went elsewhere but with our family coming up we didn't have much of a choice. In any case, yes we like the hotel and its location but they really need to work on there customer service.
