We lucked into a room on the top floor the night of July 4. The room was better than average, with plush bedding and a decent TV (but no HBO). My chief complaint would be the rattling air conditioner, and eventually I just shut it off and opened the sliding door (although then there were people on the lawn talking until 1 AM). The hotel has a private beach from which we watched the fireworks, and a decent pool and hot tub. I felt sorry for the 80,000 day trippers who were trying to get off the mountain that night down a two lane road - good luck!

One strange thing is the highly variable pricing. We'd been told a second night would cost $300, so we packed up and were checking out when the front desk person said the room was now $149! I also didn't believe her when she said the hotel sells out for July 4 every year shortly after the previous July 4, it sounded like a sales pitch. After all, we got a last minute room.

Room Tip: Get a top floor, otherwise you're looking at people's picnic tents.

We are glad you were able to book a room with us during one of our busiest times. People do often leave right after the fireworks show and traffic can be crazy. We hope to see you next year!

We had a king size room on the third floor. The views were amazing, and the room was ok. Bathroom very basic. The resort in general needs repairs especially the pool area. We felt the rate was a bit high for what you got. At the same time most places in Big Bear are rustic. Since we stayed there mid-week and it was very slow the rate should have been lower.

Room Tip: Third floor for couples.

Thank you for staying with us. If you're ever interested in coming up in the fall or spring you will get our lowest rates of the year. We are happy to let you know we start remodeling on our bathrooms this fall. Thank you for all your feedback.

Don't get me wrong. This is a very nice place. Lodge kind of feel. All rooms have a view of the lake, private beach. There is a locking gate so no unregistered guests can get in. But the rooms are very small. The beds are very comfortable, the bedding outstanding. The nightstand between the beds are a foot below the beds, very awkward. The bathroom and it's fixtures are very old. The shower head was crazy, I'm 5'1 and it stared me in the face! You do get separate beach towels and extra blankets, and there is a small AC unit which is a rarity in Big Bear. .

We are glad you enjoyed our "comfy" beds. We do get feedback on the shower heads from time to time. The resort was built in 1968, so not everything is the way we would like it. Fortunately, we do get to start those changes this fall with upgrading the bathrooms. :) We hope you come back and check them out when they are done.

We stayed here for 3 nights and got the beach access room with a kitchenette. It was a lot of fun. There is a ton of stuff to do at this resort so you can't get bored here. I have one complaint and that is the carpet in the room. It looks 20 yrs old and very dirty! Advice......Bring socks or slippers. I would not walk around the carpet in bare feet and if we did they were black.
The kitchenette has everything you need which was a pleasant surprise. Just bring your own food and seasonings. I would have given it 5 stars but the carpet is gross. For the price of this place they really need to replace the carpet. Hope they do for our next trip there! We were in 301.
For the best boat rentals - go to Pleasure Point! Great prices and wonderful staff!

First trip to Big Bear! I did a ton of research to find the best place to stay. Marina Resort was a great choice because of the location and views!

POSITIVES:
- All of the rooms have amazing lake views, since the hotel sits right by the water and all rooms face the lake.
- The pool and hot tub sit right on the edge of the lake, too.
- The location is ideal and walking distance to all of the local bars, shops and restaurants.
- The bed and pillows are really comfy.
- The room has a small fridge and coffee maker.
- Jetted tub in the bathroom.
- Free parking and no resort fee.
- Private beach/playground/volleyball/ping-pong, etc.

NEGATIVES:
- The rooms are really small.
- The staff was very unfriendly and seemed bored with their jobs. I had several simple questions that they weren't able to answer.
- Tons of spider webs on the patio.
- There are 2 BBQ grills on the property - but you have to bring your own wood/coals, lighter fluid and a lighter. So, plan on that if you want to BBQ - and bring your own dishes.
- They charge a $100 deposit upon check-in that is refunded upon checkout, however it's been 3 days since we checked out and we haven't been refunded that yet.

Room Tip: Bring your own BBQ supplies and dishes if you plan to eat on the property.

Paid over $400 for a 2 night stay. Room was small and the carpet and chairs were filthy! Bathroom outdated. Shower head for short people. The bed was saggy and uncomfortable. Was not even close to being worth the price!
Will not stay here again.

Room Tip: No tip.. Obviously Managment don't care or go to the expense for a carpet and upholstery cleanin...

I've stayed here 2 or 3 times before. It is always great value. The people are always nice at the front desk. Minimal facilities. Nice view of the lake and all the rooms face it. It is definitely not a resort but great bang for your buck.
