“Peaceful corner of Big Bear!”
Reviewed July 1, 2012

I stayed at Innderbach a tew weeks ago and what made this place so great was the manager, Timothy and his son Joseph. They were both very helpful and Timothy went out of his way to help me feel comfortable. He gave me great info on where to eat and places to go on the lake for a good walk. You can tell he takes great pride in his work and has done an amazing job of working to make the Inn five stars! The place ha great potential to be one of the best places in Big Bear with a little extra investment and more help. Beautiful area!

Room Tip: Room 10 is beautiful. Room 12 is big for a fun family time!

We were kindly upgraded by Timothy, the very astute and detail-oriented manager of the property. We stayed in Chalet 10 and the price was amazing for what we were given. Every interaction we had with him was professional. The property is older, and not "5-star" level, but it's quaint and beautiful, and definitely worth the price. My husband and I stayed there for the weekend and spent our time spring skiing. (The skiing would probably not get a 5-star review...)

We will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Request an upgrade - if it's available, it will be given to you.

Our family recently redeemed our LivingSocial voucher at the Inn Der Bach and met a couple friends up there to have a nice relaxing weekend. Something low-key where we could be outdoors and let the kids run around. We didn't really know what to expect as there were a couple bad reviews but we were pleasantly surprised. Seems the grounds had suffered because of some previous management issues but Timothy was making great progress restoring the grounds. He's working hard to bring his vision for the Inn to fruition. It's very peaceful and the kids have a lot of open space to run around and play.

From the second we checked in Timothy was more than accomodating and went out of his way to do everything possible to make our stay great. Since there were 7 of us in all (5 in our family and 2 friends) we upgraded to chalet 12. Turned out the downstairs chalet (11 I think?) was not rented for that particular weekend so Timothy surprised us and readied the unit for our friends and came to tell us they could stay there and have the entire unit to themselves! You just don't find customer service like that anymore. Timothy really made our trip!! Well...Timothy and the Keurig coffe maker...that was a nice touch too ;o)

recently redeemed my http://LivingSocial.com voucher which seems to be very popular. I have spoken twice with Timothy who during booking and our stay was very friendly and helpful. Checked in to a clean, cozy and well stocked room in #10. Full set of clean white ceramic dishes, clean utensils, Calpahlon pots/pans (swank!), and Keurig brewer/coffees for breakfast.

I would like to give this review a 4.5 because I agree with Emir - for the http://LivingSocial.com - value. This is not resort, fol,ks but it could be (give them time to work on it!). The property has a lot of potential and unfortunately some bad management before let the Inn Der Bach get run down. But its trending back to something that could be quite nice. Spacious, peaceful grounds. Lots of trees and flat grounds for the little ones to run around. We stayed with a 18 mos old and a 4 year old.

Rooms are dated but so is Big Bear, I mean, you're here for the mountains right? So get out of the rooms and take a hike! Stroll the grounds. Hit the slopes! Or just sit in the gazebo and chat over your nicely brewed cup of complimentary coffee.

We stayed in Unit 10. The wood burning stove was great, more than adequately, kept our unit very warm. My favorite things- good water heater, good water pressure and bathroom facilities were clean. And yes there was toilet paper (with extra if we needed it) and plenty of fluffy white towels.

I'd definitely return. If you're laid back and not looking for lots of frills then this place should work for you.

Room Tip: Invest in the upgrade to Unit 10, nicely appointed and has great pots/pans. Also since its nestled i...

My husband and I spent a long weekend in Big Bear and stayed at the Inn Der Bach. Our chalet was clean and warm...perfect for resting in between days of skiing. While the grounds could use a makeover, if you can get a good deal to stay here... I would go for it.

We had a great time. Big bear is calm and relaxing place. Leave LA behind! Timothy was great and if we needed anything all we had to do was ask. I was able to get Wi-Fi from my cabin Chalet #9. It's a Cabin not a 5 star hotel; the room had cable, a toaster, microwave and a fireplace. We played outside, it was a beautiful place. We'll be going back again.

Don’t be fooled by the bad reviews. Some people are just way to spoiled and can’t enjoy the simple things in life. :)

Room Tip: Take more blankets if you don't like having the heater on all night long.

My family and I went to the Inn Der Bach recently for the Thanksgiving Weekend. We had a wonderful time. We stayed in Chalet #12 which is the upstairs rental. We had such a nice stay. This property is a quaint out of the way place and only has 12 units (if I counted right) plus a lodge with rooms and a common living room/diningroom area. We stayed in the lodge the last time we visited in the summer and it was very relaxing. This time we stayed in one of the chalet. It has 2 bedrooms and one bathroom with a livingroom diningroom and kitchen. It was so nice to wake up and start a fire in the fireplace ...though the cabin was toasty warm with the furnace! It had a couple of TV with cable.
We have two daughters who are so busy between jobs and college that it is hard to get away as a family. This was just what we needed! It is a nice quiet place and is more like renting a cabin than a hotel. My husband stood outside for an hour just looking at all the stars (we see maybe 20 stars in L.A.). It is on the outskirt of Big Bear City but still close enough to Big Bear Village to be able to go shopping and such. Mostly we came to just relax and get away from the big city noise and craziness! We hated to leave! If you are looking for a updated Spa type place next to the slopes than this is not the place for you..but if you are looking for a nice, quiet rustic place with a scadanavian feel than you will really like the Inn Der Bach. We come up to Big Bear to get away from all the "electronic" stuff and bring just the minimal (cell phones, Ipods..) so no Wi Fi is good for us. Otherwise we would be doing work instead of enjoying the moment. The moments go by too fast to be stuck inside four walls staring at a screen! Haven't been there in the winter but hoping we can go in Jan or Feb. Big Bear is close enough to LA that it doesn't take you long to get there but far enough away that you feel like you are no longer near the city!

Room Tip: Make sure you make reservations far enough in advance because it seems to book pretty quickly. Also...
