“Trendy spot to drink but a difficult place to sleep”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 19, 2013 via mobile

Before launching into my complaints, the Thompson does deserve praise for a trendy hotel in a superb location in Beverly Hills. I would also like to highlight the friendliness of the bell staff. However, none of this translates into a good night's sleep - and I generally sleep very deeply. In general, the lack of carpeting in the rooms means that noise carries and it's not difficult hearing sounds from the hallway or adjacent rooms - and no one was particularly loud. I stayed two nights and for both I woke up lastly neighbors' wakeup calls. Worse was the second night when the alarm clock began ringing at 1am. It hadn't sounded the prior night and I hadn't touched it during my stay (let alone set it) so it was a very unwelcome rude awakening.
The bed was comfortable, but it was hard to sleep well with these interruptions. when
The hotel has an excellent rooftop pool, but from my brief stay it seems that it is frequently off limits to guests at night and used instead for private events. Of particular annoyance was the fact that the pool bar was closed at 530 but the second rooftop bar wasn't opening until 6pm. The staff seemed surprised that guests would prefer to stay outside on the nice day rather than be pushed to the downstairs restaurant, but finally relented and opened the second bar early. The restaurant had an appealing breakfast menu but at 730 (30 mins after opening) hadn't received their delivery of eggs for the day and couldn't prepare most of the menu.
All in all, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it for a rooftop drink (if open) but I would hope there are better places to stay in the area.

Dear venustar82 ,

Thank you for letting us know about your recent experience, both positive and negative. I am disappointed that you did not get a peaceful nights rest during your stay and I apologize for that. We do hope that you visit again, even if just for a cocktail by the pool.

Kind regards,

The resort is modern, well located and the staff is incredibly nice, especially the concierge Adam. He hooked us up with amazing restaurant and tips. The rooftop lounge was amazing and the drinks were awesome! Thank you!!!

We Had a wonderful stay at the Thompson Beverly hills I email in advanced and told them it was me and my husbands anniversary and requested a room on a higher level for a better view. We booked a paid for a queen room when we got there they had us upgraded to the top floor corner room in a king suite with a view of the hollywood sign with wine and a nice note waiting! All the staff were extremley nice the laddies at the the front dest, our waiter at the hotel resturant and the men at valet. The house keeper cleaned our room nice everyday and left chocolate on our bed. the hotel was in one of the best locations out of any of the hotels it was walking distance to robertson blvd and rodeo drive. right in the heart of beverly hills and for a great price!! The hotel has a nice bar and resturant on the roof with beautiful views theres also a pool its very tiny we never did swim. If i every get the chance to go back to L.a / beverly hills i will deffinatly be booking with the Tompson Hotel again!!

Room Tip: We were in a king suite on the 8th floor room 822 it was a corner room with a belcony and beautiful...

Firstly, this hotel deos not tell you about the incidentals charge when you call, book and pay in advance. You are hit with the $100 a day charge at last minute at check in. It is a charge because you will not get that incidentals money again. They held almost £1000 of my money and did not give me back a cent at check out. What a bunch of crooks. I really hope this hotel burns in hell or goes down. The rooftop pool was always packed with outsiders who do not even stay at the hotel which made me furious as a guest at the hotel who deserves to get space on the rooftop before any tom, dick or harry who are not hotel guests at all. Worst hotel i have ever experienced. They dont care whatsoever about guests and are so pretentious.

Fun, upbeat boutique hotel right in Beverly Hills. Great location, professional staff, upgraded us even though we made the reservations at a major discounted rate. Close to the thick of shopping and dining or if you want to buy a Ferrari or Lamboughini, it could be possible.

Room Tip: If on business, ask for good lighting.

Great location, about a 10min walk to Rodeo Drive. Very modern hotel with nicely decorated rooms. If u like the look of the W, u will like this. But this hotel lacks warmth. Front desk isnt friendly although the bellboy who served us, Nate, was a dear.

My wife and I arrived at about 3pm and were greeted with very friendly and Edgar to please valet staff who were just amazing. Upon checking in the front desk staff were once again very courteous. We had a standard deluxe king room ($250ish) booked how ever when we were talking to the front desk staff we told them we were on our honeymoon and they upgraded us to the Thompson Suite ($1500-2000/ night) for no additional charge. My wife and I were just astounded when we saw our room. This has made our cross county honeymoon road-trip. I'm still in awe.
