“Horrible- Avoid this hotel”
Reviewed October 26, 2012

Horrible experience. Such a nightmare! We checked in and a couple hours later the power went out. There was no lights, no tv, no airconditioning. We couldn't even leave the room because the power door system would lock us out since the power was out. We overlooked it and went to bed at 8:00pm because there was nothing we could do. We were woken up by the lights coming back on in the middle of the night. Then I got up again in the early morning to find the power went out again. Luckily the power was back on at about 8:00am. We went to breakfast and to sigh see and we got back to our room to find it hot and stuffy and the power out again. We went to the front desk and they told us all the other hotels had no power as well. I called the Intercontinental and they had power and availability so we booked a room there and left. Before I left though I spoke with the manager and told him that we were not paying full price for such a horrible experience. He tried to argue and make us pay full price which is ABSURD. Then when we told him that there were other hotels with power his exact response was "So we are the liars?!?" I could not believe that a place where you paid $300 a night would treat their guest/customers this way. I will never stay at this hotel again and I suggest you stay clear and a different place to stay.

We stayed here for a couple of nights and really enjoyed it. I love the area, we took some early morning & late night walks and felt safe. The hotel is nice and clean, the staff are v. friendly and the beds were comfortable. The pool area is beautiful and a lovely place to relax with a drink :) We had a double room as we were travelling with our 2 children (10 & 16) and the room was quite a good size, nice big bathroom too. My husband and I also used the gym which has everything you could need. They have free Wifi in the hotel lobby and by the pool, I do get annoyed that wifi isn't included in the price of the room but you can pay extra if you choose. Breakfast by the pool is very nice, although v. expensive compared to eating anywhere else. Overall a good hotel and up to the hilton standard, we would definitely recommend this hotel for families and will stay here again when next in LA

The highlight of my one night stay at the hotel was the buffet breakfast sitting outside by the pool. The buffet itself was very nice but nothing more than what you expect of a nicer Hilton. The setting is what makes the difference.
I had a junior suite on the 3rd floor with a balcony facing the entry circular driveway. Not much of a view from that side, as I overlooked the flat roof that covers the reception area. And they were in the process of redoing the surface of the roof...
The best rooms would face the pool.
For a junior suite, it is about the size of a modern regular room, such as waht we have seen in Springhill Suites for example.
The walk to Rodeo drive is about 20 minutes

Room Tip: ask for a poolside room

I recently stayed here whilst on part of my honeymoon, we got an upgrade to the Junior Suite. The staff were very nice, the pool area is lovely although the sun disappears around 5pm due to the building. Great location 5-10 mins walk to Rodeo Drive.

It was my 2nd time staying there and I would stay there again.

I stay here at least monthly and this property marks high in consistency. Front desk team has been there for years. General Manager helped me out one time when I had an issue with Hilton points and her follow up was outstanding. Great pool. Yes parking is outrageous but it's 90212. This is still the bargain of BH.

Beautiful hotel property with very spacious balconies. Huge bathroom included lighted magnifying mirror and TV, although Mom thought the water pressure left alot to be desired. Bedrooms were a bit cramped for 4 people (2 queen beds) but only slightly inconvenienced by this. The Bose radio in the room was great! Beautiful gym and pool area. Do be careful about the minibar...removed 5 items just to put my Diet Pepsi in to cool down and was charged at the front desk on my bill for those items, but they promptly removed those charges when I informed the desk. Parking was a bit outrageous at $36 a night, but this IS Beverly Hills! This was a bargain at 40,000 Hilton Honor points...no regrets!

The Beverly Hilton was a great choice for staying in Beverly Hills. The location is perfect if you are basing yourself out of Beverly Hills. Be sure to stay in the upgraded tower, which gives you the option of a room overlooking the pool. Pay the extra $ and get it! It is so nice to wake up to and in the evening, it gives great ambiance sitting on your personal balcony while eyeing the pool and Trader Vic's crowd. Plus, you have a great view of L.A. The cabana rooms aside the pool are the same upgrade price, but we didn't choose them thinking they would be noisy. The pool gets jumping on the weekends and the room's French doors open right onto the pool.
The room was nice! The bed was probably the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in away from home! The pillows were PRIMO! They were unbeatable. The bathroom was all travertine with a stand alone shower, part of what you are paying the upgrade charge for. The toiletries were sweet! I loved the smell of the soaps and shampoo. It was all spa quality stuff, for sure. There was turn down service offered and they did the usual leaving of the fine chocolates on your pillow. That was nice. One night, we were late getting ready to go out and I told them to forego the service, but they delivered the chocolates anyway. How thoughtful! That's really all I wanted anyway!
For Hilton rewards members, the water in your mini bar is free. Kind of a WHOOP-DEE-DOO, but it was convenient. Also, in the exercise/fitness area, they provided larger bottles of water and fruit for everyone.
Also a major convenience was the lobby bar offerings of continental style breakfast (for a charge) and Starbuck's coffee. My husband is an addict, so it was quite convenient every morning not to have to take to the road to find a Starbuck's right off. It was right downstairs. They even gave us some coupons for some days free just because I had asked about us being Hilton Rewards members and what it might offer. That was not a perk of the Hilton Rewards, but the front desk was SO helpful and accommodating that they went above and beyond.
The concierges were helpful. On our last night, we were recommended to go to Carmine's II, a truly authentic Italian restaurant on Santa Monica Blvd. with so much character and good food, it totally capped off our vacation with the perfect dinner. The owner, whose godfather happened to be Dean Martin, grew up with Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and the likes as his dad and Frank Sinatra owned Carmine's I together back in the day. He took a liking to us and it made for a great memory. Thanks, Beverly Hilton Concierge!
The parking was our least favorite aspect of the hotel, but we soon realized this was something that could not be avoided... ANYWHERE. We paid $36 a day to park the rented car. But, at least we could self park it and take it out anytime of the day, 24 hours. We just hated getting that extra $180 bill upon checking out for essentially nothing noteworthy, in our minds. But again, it could not be avoided as Beverly Hills is a parking fee nightmare of a town! Even in neighborhoods, there were meters or car parks.
The pool was great! We were a bit more intrigued by the pool history we were informed of.... Whitney Houston's last day alive was spent poolside and Angelina Jolie jumped in that pool when she won the Golden Globe Award. And MUCH, MUCH MORE!
The drinks at Trader Vic's were good. The bar tab ran up quickly as the drinks are expensive, but what do you expect in Beverly Hills? 2 drinks = $35. But, the Four Seasons down the street was worse. Drinks there were $20 a pop. Kind of a shock for a couple from New Orleans! But, we have both traveled a lot and nothing surprises us, either.
If you are looking for star gazing, just hang out in the lobby. On the weekend, there were dinners and banquets for directors, stars, etc. You cold see the line up on the public board. Just sit and watch the valet lane and it will deliver. And the fine cars! If you are into car gazing, they come in full force.
You can also take a peak into the International Ballroom where the Golden Globe Awards are held annually. We actually got free reign to the whole place, including the stage, which was a neat experience.
All in all, the Beverly Hilton certainly aimed to please and delivered in the process! BRAVO!

Room Tip: Ask for the Wilshire Tower and pay the upgrade. It's worth it. You can get a pool view room an...
