Sometimes the glow of old hotels can outlive the properties themselves, but in this case the Beverly Hills Hotel lived up to its billing. Very nicely kept-up property with highly courteous, prompt but not overly hovering service. Room was elegant, well appointed and roomy without being over-large. The only demerit was that, although I accepted the high price of the room and restaurants, I found that a $12 Snickers bar from the servibar to be a bit over-the-top in trying to squeeze out value (of course, I refrained) -- by far the highest I've ever seen in even the most uber-luxurious place, and earns it a one-star demerit just because of over-reaching. But would definitely like to stay again and would recommend unreservedly.

I have stayed at the Beverly Hills Hotel several times, and whenever I enter the lobby it puts a smile on my face. Don't expect to walk in and be bulled over by modern jaw dropping decor, this hotel sticks to its roots and doesn't apologize for it. Part of its character is thats its retro and a little "tongue and cheek". Eat dinner at the Polo Lounge, order a McCarthy Salad, and get serenaded by a blast from the past lounge singer. Its all part of the fun of staying here and what the Dorchester Group does best, they keep the integrity of their properties, provide you with an experience and leave you wanting more.

We stayed here for four days for the first leg of our honeymoon. They upgraded us to a huge suite which was truly amazing with its own fireplace and beautiful lounge area. The staff in the hotel were so helpful and arranged anything we wished for with no fuss and a high level of efficiency. The pool was out of action whilst we were there but were told this upon our arrival and told that they could arrange for us to have access to the pool of another hotel. This was no big deal for us anyway as Rodeo Drive and Universal were our main priorities in the three days we stayed. The restaurant (Polo lounge) served amazing food albeit a little pricey. We loved the red carpet at the entrance which made us feel special! :-) I'd come back again and would recommend this hotel to others for sure.

F. Scott Fitzgerald said, "Let me tell you about the very rich. They are different from you and me." However, their children and nannies are just as misbehaved and incompetent as our own. A lovely outside breakfast was marred by two tables of screaming children and nannies who ignored them. Swarms of flies buzzed around as well.

The breakfast itself was good, not great (but the French press coffee was great). The service was very good. The setting was pretty.

They need to spray (for the flies)

Dear bananaiguana1,

Thank you for bringing the "fly" situation to our attention. Know that the appropriate hotel personnel have been notified and we are taking every step possible to minimize the presence of flies on our outdoor patio. We also regret the noise disruption that you experienced. It was comforting, however, to know that you enjoyed the French press coffee, our service levels, and the Polo Lounge patio setting. Hopefully we will have the opportunity to welcome you back to the Polo Lounge in the future and deliver an improved all around experience.

It was only AFTER we arrived that we were informed the pool was undergoing renovations! It was not on the website and no one bothered to tell us before we arrived. We were still permitted to use the pool, which I did once, but my swimmer’s goggles enabled me to see all the debris in the water so I did not put my face in the water and did not go back in. That was a major let down as it was one of the reasons we choose to return to BHH. All in all it is still a great hotel, due to the ambiance, signature shop, amenities, and history. However, the food is not as good as it used to be (i.e. processed turkey in an expensive turkey club sandwich, unedible asparagus that looked like celery) and the staff kept entering/showing up at our room. One time an employee came to our door, announced he wanted to check our fridge, and asked what we had taken from it (a couple of bottled waters). He then walked on in and opened the fridge door to look and replace things. Apparently he was doing it daily (mostly when we were out). Also, upon arrival, I said we did not want the turn down service but when we returned from dinner, someone had been in our room to do it anyway, also leaving info on our bed about more services we could pay for. Unless you leave the Do Not Disturb sign on your door 24/7, people will come and go. I must say that the majority of the employees are really nice and work very hard. They are just carrying out their orders from the management. Would I return again? Of course! It is the Beverly Hills Hotel, after all, the beds are amazing, the ambiance classic. And with any luck, by the time we go back, Wolfgang Puck will be overseeing the food. One hopes.

Dear Writerme,

Thank you for reviewing your recent visit to the Pink Palace. I am extremely concerned to hear that you were not informed of the pool restoration taking place during your stay. We realized that it was of the utmost importance that this was known and understood by all guests, and we thought we had taken all of the necessary steps to achieve this end. This included notification at the time of booking; messaging on reservation confirmation correspondence; and printed letters in all guestrooms. But something must have fallen through the cracks with regard to your reservation and stay, and this is most unacceptable. We sincerely apologize for this human error on our end.

I have followed up with our reservations team to make sure we are very diligent when informing our guests of restorations at the hotel. I understand that the pool restoration did not leave a positive impression on your stay. We have taken great care in phasing the project to ensure that the guest disruption is minimized as much as possible, so it is particularly unfortunate that it has affected your time here. You will be happy to hear we just finished the pool restoration and look forward to providing you with an enhanced poolside experience on your next visit.

I truly appreciate your feedback regarding the staff entering your room too often. When you make your next reservation with us, please do let the reservations team know your preferences in regards to service times.

I am pleased you will be back to visit us again, hopefully it will be soon!

Best regards,
Edward Mady

What a wonderful, memorable hotel this is! Although we were only in LA the one night this time (stopover night after a long flight from Australia), we felt like we had stayed a week! From the minute we stepped out of the taxi to when we left early the next day, we were swept away by the friendliest and most helpful staff you could ever wish to meet! I have driven past this hotel on many other visits to LA, and this Hotel has always intrigued me...... What was behind the beautiful manicured gardens and pink facade??? The history....and if those walls could talk....???!! For us, it was a perfect LA experience, and I truly hope we can have the opportunity to stay here again!

We stayed here 3 times on our recent trip to the states. We tossed up between the Beverly Hills Hotel, SLS and the Thompson. We were absolutely thrilled with our decision to stay at the Beverly Hills hotel and can't wait to get back there...we simply couldn't fault it. We loved the old Hollywood charm. We stayed in the Bungalows junior garden suites & garden suite (14D, 9D & 9B) 9B & D were great. Our rooms were beautifully spacious, immaculately clean and definately loved the spacious his & hers wardrobes. The service from all the staff was amazing-efficient, friendly and very down to earth. The Polo club was always memorable as were all dining experiences, a real home away from home. Thankyou Jack (Valet driver) for all your great restaurant and shopping tips!
'Virtuoso' package was a great deal...definately look into

Room Tip: Bungalow suites. Request a sunny room away from the carpark.
